[Enjin Archive] we need to not allow new people...
Started by [E] ildd

haha same
And basicly, that's what servers like godcraft want.

They don't want the little kids who can't pay. If they are not able to get a credit card or paypal, its probably because they are not mature enought to play the server.

Guest white list is the way to go, stop arguing about going like god craft but not making paid the oldest player. If we ever go like that, every1 will need to pay. that's it. No exeptions. Just don't sugerre the server to go like that if you are not able to pay 10$.

+. Yes we are open to all,but personally, stop whining about going private or limiting the player slots if you are not even able to donate 5$. If we would keep all those old players who can't donate, server would close. We need new money, alias, new player. Stop living in your fantastic world where you can live without any problems and that you never have to pay 1 cent or to compromise something to play without anylags and any griefers. It's the rude reality.
lol Dobs this isnt an argument we're talking about the future of our server.
Still, you get the point.

Stop whining if you are not even able to pay 5$.
Nobodies whining, dobs. We're just discussing the possibilities.
Then the future of the server in my opinion, it's not to accomodate the older players. It's to accomodate the Active players, and the players that are helping the community to get further, to grow.
WARNING THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION

I think that some things should be implemented

We need the builder status rule to keep random griefers out and help keep the online community active

We need channels for chat (I've done some research but as far as getting it working i would let sawine, god of mods, take a crack at is

We need more people using mumble so that basic chat doesn't fill channels of chat, or some way to make a private chat

While I do think some of the server benefit work is interesting, things such as the cathedral that are purely decorative, not housing a bank, admin shop, or hospital (thank god for the hospital) . I know Sawine has had fun making it but it didn't deserve the right to spawned materials

I have been on the server since creative and while i have been very much interested in completing the sphere i find it impossible to get people to help me with it. Today when i tried to get some workers not only couldn't i talk with the workers because of all the chat spam but some people warp and steal from the material chests. the server needs higher quality members and while some poeple such as xil and drae have been antagonistic it's much better than those who are so n00b that they can't do anything.

One other piece of advice is the fact that people need something that helps introduce them to the server, and i'm not talking about an in game message. So much of the chat is asking where can i build and where to get materials because of how people are often expecting spawned items and being given specific lots to build in. The common sense that most of us take for granted just don't apply to these new characters.

As far as the ideas on paying to use this server, I say don't make it required. There are so many good regulars on here that cannot afford to pay or even own a credit card/ paypal to pay with, such as myself. If anyone has been on for one of the age polls, we honestly don't have that many older people playing on our server. If it was made pay to use, then i would pray to be given an exception for my veteranship but if not i would be gone because i just can't afford it as a broke college student. I still plan to donate when i can but if that was going to prevent me from playing i would find a free to play server despite the sphere progress i'd be leaving behind.

This is not the thread to host this debate, but I only builded the cathedral to make the spawn looks good, I didnt spawned any blocks for my own constructions at the rebel base or anywhere else.

The cathedral replaced the spot of an unfinished tower and of some junk lands. I also builded the bank and helped Cody with the hospital and builded many other stuff at spawn...( this is not really the point of this post anyway...and i dont want to list everything Ive builded to make it look like im bragging. )

But... I dont know what to answer you, Im not building any other huge building, i did enouph for now and dont want to abuse admin powers. Also my name is not wrote everywhere around my buildings saying sawine did this or did that....

I dont mind taking credits or not for them since i used admin powers to create them....

And... thats it idk what to add....
While I can understand the advantages of an all pay policy I don't think it is best in the long run.

I am an 18 year old college bound American, I come on here to have fun, that's it. Even if it was only 2 dollars a month I would have a hard time convincing myself it is worth it.

At least for now, I think the guest whitelist is the best option. I'll donate what I can when I can, and all the regular donates will do the same I'm sure, but a fixed obligatory price is another matter.

I don't like the chat spam or grieving, but I think guest and local chat would fix both. Then donations will come when they come, do you guys really need 100 people on at once? 200? 72 sounds like a nice easy number.
I think that adding a required fee is a little beyond our server level atm, and that we need to work on our plugins and admins and all that stuff before we start to think about this pay in. People can donate when they want, and Dobs, imagine if you had no access to a credit card. It would be frustrating having one of the few teenagers that has acces to a credit card to be the one who takes charhe and says that all teenagers do and have all the old peolpe end up getting kicked becuase the have insufficient funds for the server.
