and i already have a download manager anyway
Before you do anything I'm about to tell you, force update your game with the option button in the minecraft launcher.

After that, follow these simple steps to patch your game.

1. Download the link in my last post.

2. Download and install winrar or 7zip (preferably winrar), if you don't already have one of them.

3. Right click your minecraft.jar, which is in the bin folder of your .minecraft folder.

4. Click 'Open with Winrar'

5. Leave that window open for now.

6. NOW go to your file that I told you to download in my last post.

7. Right click and open with winrar.

8. Copy all the files from inside the optifine folder (the one you downloaded) into your minecraft.jar

That's it. Move your texture pack into your texture pack folder after all that and it should work.
can i get rid of winrar and optifine afterwards?
no.
If that doesnt work then atleast post us some screenshots of whats acctually wrong... Please dont ask how to take screenshots... lol
how do i take screenshots? JK lol

It wont let me download optifine cos it could be harmful to my computer
Its not harmful to your computer I assure you....

Just download it. If it physically wont let you then disable your firewall momentarily to download it.
I can assureyouthat i knowhow to disable firewalls, BUT i got a new PC since then so i dont know how to do it on this 1 :banghead: <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f613.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":undecided:">:undecided:</object>
Problem after problem.......

Go to your Antivirus programme, usually in the bottom right beside the time and stuff, and look around until you find the firewall, disable it.
