[Enjin Archive] Removing the glass to glowstone plugin
Started by [E] randalserrano

this really.... REALLY sucks for me...... ive been using that plugin to help with my mega build.... if yah think i can afford to pay 1 gold per glowstone .... maybe if i only needed a stack .. but i might need well over 100 more stacks of glowstone... think im exaggerating.. check out /warp et_co .... i now have no idea how i am to get the required glowtone...... i mean this really sucks,,, saying that i have spent about a month to get to the point i am now..... now i dont know if itll ever get finished :/ ..... shame too i had some amazing plans for the building D,:
I think the soulsand-to-glowstone mod was primarily meant for toggable lights, maybe only secondary to convert soul sand into glowstone.

The glass-to-glowstone was part of a bigger mod like McEdit or something.

To me the glass-to-glowstone thing was a pain so I am happy it is gone. It messed up a few of my older builds.
Last night, as soon as I saw Darth's post I had to make entrepreneurial decision to change all the glass I had to glowstone before the restart!
I had a problem with that on the tree farm i am building now and came up with a solution. All that needs to be done is use a piston behind a piston and wire the right way for both pistons to work properly. That way, no leaves will harm the mechanism. We are still working out some bugs with this beast of a machine, but it about 75% done. The main thing that is being worked on now is the sand system. Most people drop the sand and make it break on the bottom. We are actually reusing the sand with a recycling system. It is actually quite interesting and you should see it.
I'm pretty letdown about this. It was a really useful ability to have especially for large scale projects like whole cities.
This is seriously going to affect market rates and large cities like Millennium.
How many times do I have to say it?

GLOWSTONE IS NOT THAT HARD TO COLLECT.

But since everyone apparently disagrees with that, I guess I'll just go out and get it myself and sell it for a rediculous fortune.

I also agree, the glass to glowstone plugin must be disabled, with Soulsand put back into that role instead. It is hurting Millenium City's Expansion due to the fact that I require large amounts of glowstone, and have a decent stockpile of soulsand in order to do just such. Which was completely sideswiped when they removed the plugin. This also controlled netherack being able to light off by redstone, therefor making the expansion of my Firewall, impossible unless it is re-enabled.

You can put in a pe to have netherrack lit. I've done it myself.
Theres always the nether, lotsa glowstone there...

I mean I know some people believe they are above working and all...

But Fettuccini is right, netherrack is a cheap viable solution instead of glowstone for city lighting, torches will work fine if placed well (even if you have a modern city)

In my opinion, alot of glowstone is really tacky anyways.
I have been in the nether a lot lately anyways getting supplies for some of the buildings i am building. It isn't hard to find glowstone in there and most of the nether hasn't even been explored. I got over a stack of glowstone yesterday and am planning on getting a lot more. It is just a matter of actually getting out of your town and comfort zone to do it. (hint: don't bring anything that is of value to the nether just in case and drop off your treasures often so you don't lose them)
