I agree with the above. It is too complicated... Minecraft is not like real life, people are available and able to play at different times.
The one benefit to the council system is that not everyone on the council has to be on. we can all pass votes offline using notes and such.

Although I agree with you, it does put power into a select group. I feel like this could also cause corruption. The people in the council need to have a higher member, like a president, to keep them in check.
Of course there is always what is called the Magistrate or Chancellor in a council setting. Think of this person as the one who gives the final vote or can override it entirely with a veto.
I've researched some other forms of Government. Here are a few. Tell me what you guys think.
Landed Elite - The more land a person owns, the more power and prestige they have.
Aristocracy - The Richest citizens of the nation Rule.
Oligarchy - Small group has all the power. (Family, tribe, etc.)
Collective Rule - Everyone takes part in the Governing process. (This policy gets difficult as the nation gets bigger.)
Monarchy - Government is held to an individual and that power is passed down to his family.
Let me know what you guys think. Or just post other ideas about the nation I want to build.

I'm starting to have doubts about being able to work on my project. There is a huge castle build on some of the land I wanted to work on. I can't just ask for it to be moved, so I have to rethink and find a new area to settle.
the key is. had you probably not made this post. People who already have access on that server wouldn't have gone there. ....however can i just say that its incredibly unfair that people who have early access be allowed first rights to build.
I agree. But just because I have ideas, doesn't mean I get the world.
So you know, that is actually a chunk error that you are seeing and not a castle build. Everyone that is building on Agharta is working on spawn at the moment and not out searching for land. The chunk was not loaded by the map so it appears as a dark spot. No need to worry about your project, no one has gone to take the land.
