[Enjin Archive] Revival Idea for the FTB Server.
Started by [E] Nanakisan

Dammit thermal expansion is gone. That sucks. I would recommend making it 1.5.2. all that was added in 1.6 was horse section of mo's creatures. we could add mo's creatures and get a better version of horses. Also mine town is big enough that we could host multiple ftb servers. The demand is higher that you would think, a lot of players just played for a few minutes and didn't like it. so they quit what we had before.
there is one major thing they changed in 1.6 yer not aware of. Servers no longer suffer from massive heart failure if a item-id conflicts and such. They changed forge to the point of where it allows conflicts. You just have to find them now.
I suppose that helps things. Those conflicts were killing me before.
Hopefully this catches some momentum. The only reason i'm sticking around here is for the FTB server to be revived. At this point, after 3 or so failed attempts at modded servers on minetown, i don't think one will ever be made. Even though a good FTB server can attract more people than a prison server or some other vanilla garbage.

In my opinion, the staff just don't care about modded servers.
Your incorrect. the staff doesn't have the time ore the patience to deal with the ftb server. Vanilla minecrfat rarely breaks. FTB on the other hand is always breaking. They were also mad at the lag problem we had that they just couldn't solve. server was running at half speed with me being the only person logged on. Its possible to check the server tic rate with a EU-reader. people were getting griefed and since they had Bukkit forge they couldn't find out who did the griefing. The problems with the ftb server were Complicated and in depth, but it all boils down to staff incompetence. Many people are only sticking around for the FTB server. Its a shame administration cant see that.
Administration does see it, Lance. A big issue with any modded server we had, was people always complaining. I always say that. If some item was banned because it caused lag, people would wine, cry and throw fits around. When the server is closed, people throw fits, cry and wine.

If it were me, I would not want to waste my time making decisions for a modded server, only to be cried to because my way of running it was pointless. Items are banned for a reason, mods are removed for a reason. People don't really understand that it's not always going to be their way.
Everything Madster said is true. We try our hardest to make the server enjoyable. But there is always going to be complaining..,...always... over time it does hit you in areas you don't like. People who make modded servers try their hardest to make things fun. It takes the actions of 1 player sometimes to really ruin things.

I once whitelisted a guy named ABC_Lockwood to another server i worked in. That guy was so arrogant and annoying...he basically found every loop hole in our rules and exploited it. I once even found a chunkloaded Tier 5 ghast spawner in a covered up quarry hole. It was after that i said fuck this and banned him. He was immediately unbanned because well guess what. People complained that i was being to harsh on him. Even after i revealed he was the source of everyones lag. People still demanded he be unbanned....see what me and maddy are saying. Only so much can someone stand complains before they say "you know what. Screw this, go run your own server i'm done here"
The last time I played the modded server here it was Tekkit. The server was usually pretty popular and there would usually be 10 or more on at a time. The lag would get unbearable at times and despite having a lot of staff online, it persisted. Youfoundme and Laucain were almost always on when I was. Poor setup and planning caused most of the issues. I remember when Italy found 5 million items being dumped in a room by someone who had just AFK'd. For a while, Italy and Masta spent their time tracking down and removing lag-inducing machines and setups. You can find loads of tutorials on setup and what to avoid doing online and it seemed like most people did not even care. I found one maximum sized quarry dumping items all over the place in my area that another player had done. I had to break the blocks underneath it and pour lava to stop the lag.

Pretty much what Nanakisan and Madster said. Staff had to spend so much time fixing a few player's areas because they felt the need to load chunks everywhere or that they needed a machine to pump out thousands of items in an hour that they will never use. As is the case with regular Minecraft, new dupe bugs and loopholes are discovered as time goes on and people feel the need to abuse them. Thankfully, this server never had the issue as others had with people completely and permanently corrupting chunks and server files but some players do create way too many problems by blatantly creating lag and issues. Staff have to deal with issues affecting server stability and gameplay and while it can appear like the staff does not care about the common issues affecting players, they are just tied up dealing with inconsiderate builds and are trying to ensure fair and fun gameplay for the rest of the players.
I will agree minetown had a low number of banned items. As for the tekkit server If you had listened to me and installed CLAG you would not have had millions of entities lagging the server. CLAG is practically a mandatory for a Modded minecraft server. You don't hear too many players complain about it either, because its or nearly every server. People are going to complain, force people to donate for items. that will reduce the number of abusive items on the map. and delete Xycraft. Quarry's that are filled with water cause twice as much lag. tell people if you full your quarry with water it will be removed. For most of Your problems theirs a solution.
I had to wipe that quarry with the black hole band to remove the water lag. I forgot all about that issue.
