I'm going to make a suggestion. Host it on the Custer. I know that sawine wants to put our old server to good use. But the simple act is that the CPU on that server is too slow. That's why it lags. it doesn't take an expert to figure that out. You could go delete Xycraft tanks all you want. an excess of loaded chunks isn't your problem. I say sell the old server on Ebay. I'm sure it will sell. I play the Ebay game every day. I'm pretty sure i know what it runs at but can you tell me the exact spec's of the ftb server and the cluster. I really hope you take my suggestion.

Not to worry, The beta server is already running on the cluster. Ahh servers no matter how old they get. They can still be used for something later.

4 Month's later I come to revive this thread. My opinions about Bukkit Forge have been slightly altered. If you ever do revive the FTB server, you need to use MCPC+. Just to prove my point I am going to make a list of things that don't/didnt work with Bukitt forge. (this is me making use of constructive feed back)

World edit won't work on modded blocks.

World guard wont protect against any kind of modded damage.

Multi-verse wont work.

Hawk eye cant see anything in a modded chest. Also cant see modded item transactions, nor can it see modded explosions.

/Invsee requires you to be standing less than 4 block form the target to function.

LWC is less than perfect.

Had you actually installed Clear lag like suggested way to many times, it would fail to clear entities in unloaded chunks, or in the twilight forest.

/Home doesn't work cross dimension.

The /Nuke Command Tears large holes in your map!!! (Its not supposed to!!)

Wondering why You got 10 Tic's per second when you were the only person logged in at 4AM? MCPC+ can help with many lag related issues that forge causes.

Like any Minecraft server your tic rate is linked to the clock rate of a single CPU core. It doesn't really matter how massive your server is, if your CPU Clock rate is the same, Minetown will lag as bad as my Duel core Hackintosh. That's why lag issues need to be resolved.

FTB is a great opportunity for Minetown to invest in, It just takes time and dedication.

As for the dupe issues, You will actually be able to catch dupers With MCPC+, using your newly functional Hawk eye/Log block.

Please take into consideration my recommendations.

All these recommendations, were made over the smoldering ruins of my Failure of a FTB server.

A simple counter to you.

1: ForgeEssentials = All the admin tools needed + grief prevention at spawn

2: CoreProtect is FTB compatible

3: in these instances i would use Log Block over HE. mostly due to LB being a simple in-game tool.

4: what possible use would someone need WE for? Even if you get it to work. It causes more issues then its worth.

5: Through the configs apply bans to the making of Mystcraft description books. This way people can't make ages without a admins help.

6: Through the use of the configs. Apply strict chunk loading restrictions. This will save time and agony among other things. It will ease the lag incredibly.

7: Without the multimc launcher being updated we cannot run our own pack. (( I would rather run our own pack then a FTB launcher pack))

yes MCPC+ does solve a ass tons of things. But if you actually took time to observe the configs in your pack. You would be able to prevent 80% of the crap that causes lag or massive grief.

Core protect doesn't run on forge, but it may be FTB compatible of you were using MCPC+

Log Block has the same exact problems as hawk eye. I would use this plugin over hawk eye any day.

World edit is a helpful tool for fixing large griefs and the regeneration of chunks. You also need it installed to Make World gaurd work. World edit is one of the most essential plugins for a server to have.

I agree with making strict chunk loading restrictions rather than to ban the items.

MCPC+ will solve your problems, Can you really find any reason's to stay with Bukkit forge?

Honestly i wouldn't be against building a 1.6.2 pack if you really want me to. Its not that hard if you know how to bind forge with liteloader. The trick is just making a clean install environment so that you can give it to people who want your pack.

A 1.6.2 pack would be interesting. I would be more than happy to build it and let someone else take credit for it. this kind of thing is what i like to do in my spare time. Xycraft doesen't really cause lag unless its used with forge, but it must go, along with mysticraft. one of my main concerns is that half the people on minetown were duping with the canvas bag especially the people int he FTB united clan. , but since Redpower is history I don't think that will be a problem. Also if our pack is "Third party" we can add some mods not seen in other packs like flans mod and mo's creatures. maybe even Galticraft.

the only mod we would be without sadly is Thermal Expansion as KingLemming has pulled a Eloraam. He's vanished however a new mod took its place. Its called EnderIO and ...sweet lord almighty is it sexy! http://enderio.com/ you basically get your liquiducts, conduits and redstone wire. All in 1 sexy block that is compatible with BC facades.
