[Enjin Archive] [Tekkit] A New Map to Fix the Lag? And The Fate of EE?
Started by [E] MastaC729

For everyone who says dissable EE, you all apperently like to mine every friggin thing! Oh and Masta, will we keep our inventory's when the map reset's because I and many others reaally want to keep at least some of our stuff when the server reset's. I have looked into the problem's with lagg, and found that using wireless recievers, and transmitters decreasses the lagg, and redstone pipes ( the Red power ones ) cause lagg too. Please consider letting us keep our Inventory's Masta, because for everyone who has played the tekkit server since it began, like me would at least like to keep some of our stuff, and half of you who who complain about lagg issues need to get better computers, because I never lagg on the tekkit server. P.S. Mac's suck!!!
Quinn: No, sorry. This will be a complete reset. If I allowed people to keep their inventories, then they could bring over a bunch of stuff to instantly start making factories. I prefer if the playing field gets leveled.

I should also mention that this server isn't official. Therefore, these maps are not supposed to be permanent. Until we have a good spawn and an official set of building restrictions, the maps are just for testing.
I am one of the 11 that voted to keep the map. I agree with Neurok about having some mechanism to destroy overflow. On a quarry I dug a lava pit to catch spillage though that was a build craft pipe system. The four of us that are out at my area have painstakingly tried to design our machines to avoid lag. Lostbit and I have gone as far as testing designs on a private test server to ensure that it does not cause any chunk errors or lower playability. We have also searched forums and forums to find any glitches that could possible cause lag or chunk damage. (inifinite MFSU loops are an example) Red alloy wire is one of the items that caused tons of lag when we tested as did most of buildcraft items. I know that many people will still be inconsiderate and try to see how far they can push things but I like the condensing ability for raw materials such as stone or dirt with EE. It would probably be too much trouble but since there are no warps set on the server yet and people's homes are the main way to get to their areas, there could be a warning system. If a player continues to generate lag by carelessness and poor setups then they will be temp banned and have their area reset. The one other public server that I have ever played on will ban users for creating huge mob traps due to the lag that they can create on Tekkit. As far as the red matter and the like, I do have a good amount of but that took weeks of gathering materials and creating. Four of us working together enabled us to get materials and technology faster. You could say that me having 50 spawners on main is having too many but that doesn't mean that the inventory should be reset. Those took months of searching and buying and selling to get. Work went into getting those as well as red matter and UU matter.

I do think that EE enables a player to "climb up the technology tree" faster but it only does so much. Most of the items that people use can't be duplicated legitimately. EE does base materials only, for the most part. If people want to have giant machines fed by 40 condensers that run 24/7 then this server is not the place to do that. That should be left to single player or a private server. Not knowing how the mechanics work is a major cause of lag in my opinion. There are countless forum posts out there and at least two wikis that detail the drawbacks and benefits of setups. People need to read up on what they are planning on building before they do it. I have been to homes on the map that are well planned with little lag and I have been to some where I could not even jump to fly it was so laggy. People need to think more about how their actions will affect others on the server, especially if they are near spawn. I like having EE because it allows for a safety net of sorts if you run out of materials. As there is no store on the map you are essentially trading EMC for an item, especially if you aren't using collectors. You place a piece of coal in and get wood back since you can't go over to spawn and buy items. I think that carelessness and overkill in item creation has ruined what EE could have become.

I will direct someone else that I know to comment in this thread as he probably voted in it.
We could implement a rule that states a lever (or some other device) must be in place to shut down a factory, if necessary. While people are offline, their factories must be offline, etc. That may help with lag.
The Tekkit world should be reset.

The Tekkit would should not be reset.

just saying
I think EE tools should be disabled, because they are very overpowered and can easily be used to grief the world. As for condensers and collectors, I feel condensers should be kept, but I would also be fine with the removal of collectors. There are still other ways to get free energy.

As I've stated previously, we should implement a rule to control factories so they can't lag the server 24/7.

And my final statement: A world reset is needed. This currently world is so laggy, and griefed I feel a new world, with a REAL spawn and a firm set of rules in place prior to the launch would do the server and community good.
Erhhh.....

A rule to get factory's not running 24/7?

isnt that the meaning of a factory to let it run 24/7 to get the most out of it ...
If they aren't closely monitored they can start to backup and create lag. Some people are trying to create hundreds of items at once without regularly checking on it. They may happen to not logon for a few days and the machine backs up because they left it running without supervision.
hey i want to keep the map and not reset it, it will ruin it for me if it gets reset... and for those of you who don't like EE you can simply choose not to use it. i don't think the majority should have the right to take something away from the minority if it is not necessary i don't have forever to mine the resources and if you do then you can simply chose not to use it... and bwt are force fields disabled,if you why?
The forcefields were causing errors in LWC and Hawkeye so they were disabled a few days ago.
