[Enjin Archive] [Tekkit] A New Map to Fix the Lag? And The Fate of EE?
Started by [E] MastaC729

I have researched the problem of lagg, and I found that the redstone wire causes lagg issues, so I tryed the wireless redstone mod, and made 4! MFSU factory's and had no lagg, the point is I have found a sollution for the lagg, and tekkit will suck if you ban the EEmod, my sugjestion is to have two alternate world's one with EE, and the one we have now, If you dissable EE at least allow Dimensional Anchors again.
EE causes no lagg, If you would like I can send you a copy of my world with redstone wire in the factory's , and a copy of my world with wireless recievers, and wireless transmitters, in place of redstone wire, and you can compare. It's your choice, I think that If you reset though, please have a world with EE (the current one), and a new one without EE, oh, and Masta, if you do reset please send me a copy of the map please, I would like to keep my work countless hours of work if possible.
I would side with Quinn, have 2 worlds, one EE enabled, and the second EE disabled.

My ideas:

Wipe the current map and start over.

ban all ee amulets and rings (swiftwolf a donation perk?).

Ban ALL of computer craft to the general public(still accessible to staff).

Maybe implement a level plugin, allowing only certain mods to be used at certain levels, use money (MTC) as the way to level up (you would earn money for either voting or selling your items to the server(?)) .

Ex.

lvl 1: Basic ic2 only $1,500 (Low voltage machines)

lvl 2: All ic2 + chest upgrades available (minus nuke reactors, and fabricators) $15,000

lvl 2: Buildcraft available for use $25,000

lvl 3: Redpower available $60,000

lvl 4: All tekkit unlocked $100,000 (basically EE and nuke reactors + fabricators)

Also note that you should NOT be able to use money from the main mt server to buy these ranks.

What about everyone who uses EE Amulets and Swiftwolf everyday? Do you think making these features of tekkit exclusive to donators only would please them very well? Thats the same thing as saying that in the main server, certain items are for donators only. If this were to happen, it would be one of those servers that force you to donate to have the real fun.. I don't want Minetown to turn out like that.
I like the in-game money system idea, but I don't think anything should be banned, just that the more advanced things will be more difficult to get. I would be deeply saddened by a map reset because of all the work I have put into the things that I and Bman1248 have built. But I suppose that wouldn't be such a bad thing due to the fact that we have reached the endgame anyway.

The only reason that I play on this server is because you guys are one of the few that actually allow EE. I personally don't get any lag where Bman and I play and I think wherever there is lag is not because of EE. Its true that a lot of things that you can make in EE are very destructive and sometimes a little lag inducing, but that is the entire fun of this server. Its just nice to have somewhere that you can actually play tekkit online and not this new version of it that so many people create where you cannot use EE or many other fun things.

I understand having nukes and anchors and stuff like that banned but I don't think you should ban anything else or many people, myself included, will stop playing on this server and look for another. But sadly, if I do that, will never find a server as awesome as this one has been.
I should of said ban all EE amulets and rings OR implement the level system i described.
reset it, its much too lagged out by old factorys noone is using anymore, and getting all items on its normal way (no condensers) something new for the most i think (everyone borowed one and duped it)
Hmm, why is the poll 20-10 if everyone who talked about resetting the map is OK with it? To the people who don't want a map reset: say something. I need to know why this isn't almost unanimous before I do anything (besides the fact that I won't be able to do a map reset until next week). I don't want that 1/3 of the people who said no to suddenly ragequit because I did something that, in my opinion, is necessary.

As for disabling EE, it's not that EE itself causes lag; it's when people don't set up their machines properly with the EE condensers. Although, most of you don't want EE disabled. But I should remind everyone who thinks it's what makes Tekkit is that it destroys the playability. In my experience, the ability to get anything you want in seconds makes the game boring, which was my part of my reasoning as to why EE should be disabled. However, I won't disable it until I feel that a majority of the active people want me to keep it. So for now it's not getting disabled, but that doesn't mean it will stay that way. We will see how the next map plays out.

Anyways, due to the current results, there will be action taken on this issue. Sometime next week, or whenever I get a chance, I will set a date for the map reset. By that point, the buildings for spawn will be saved to schematics, and the map will be set aside. The new one will be a random seed like the previous, and the border will be the same limit, unless I need to expand it for whatever reason.
i strongly disagree with disabling EE because the mod itself it not causing lag it is the people making factory's incorrectly that are causing the lag due to for instance no overflow control I really wouldn't like to see the map reset simply because of people like myself that work hard to make sure that the things we create don't create massive lag. one thing a lot of tekkit servers do is make sure a couple things are enforced, 1: all automated systems must have a restrictor pipe and/or an iron pipe going into an incinerator to stop overflow. 2: all automated systems must have a master off switch that must be turned off when you are not on the server, these things are very small changes but i feel they will have a massive impact on the lag. I feel a better way to fix the lag problem would simply be institute a policy where anyone who has not logged on in a long while and has these lag producing factorys should be warned to fix them and make them more lag efficiant and then within a certain amount of time if it still isnt fix reset the chunks they are in, it still allows everyone who actually isn't causing lag to still play and not loose all their work and it gets rid of all of the laggy chunks. now mind you if the damage to the map and such is so out of control its un repairable then yes i can see resetting it to be a good thing but i strongly feel that while most people are quote "swimming in red matter" not everyone is, eventually yes but this will happen eventually regardless of rather you remove EE or not, their will always be a lot of people that have all end game tekkit content that give things out and as a result make a lot more people be in the same situation as where they have everything, this is unavoidable and will happen if u reset the server, I feel you should be into trying to find ways that fix the lag in a good way rather than just remove everybody's stuff as a quick fix.
Im fully with you for disabling EE masta, it is what ruins the longevity of tekkit.
