[Enjin Archive] [Tekkit] A New Map to Fix the Lag? And The Fate of EE?

Hey everyone,

In the past few days, I have been thinking that a map reset may be needed. Many of the structures on this current map are poorly designed, and a lot of them do way too much for a server like ours to be able to handle. Therefore, it may be necessary to reset the map.

Also, this would be a good time to discuss my feelings about EE. I am getting quite frustrated with the headaches that EE is causing. The main reason why people's factories are lagging, from my experience, is because people are using EE to mass produce items. Now, I must say that this kills the point in mining. Why mine if you can dupe everything with EE? This is Minecraft, and mining should always be the main way to get resources. But more importantly, I don't want to have people abusing this feature with things like factories that use EE.

Please respond to the poll below, and if you want to voice your opinion on both issues, feel free to comment. I would like to take action on these two issues sometime next week, or this weekend if enough people agree.

EDIT: I realized that the poll has reset a few times. Just ignore that; as it stands, 2/3 are OK with a reset, while 1/3 is not. Well as far a map reset thats fine. As for EE its actually not whats causing the problems. Yes they can mass produce more easily because of it but its poor factory design that is causing the lag. I have worked on peoples factories when they have complained about lag and helped significantly. I will also be teaching people how to make use of the other mods to more efficiently setup factories.

Having factories with tubes and red alloy wire everywhere causes massive lag. I can build the same factory in half the space and zero overflow with on demand systems. Until people learn these methods lag will always be an issue.

As for it being about mining it really isn't. It's about technology and efficiency. Figuring out how to design it to do what you want it to do the best way possible. I don't play tekkit so that I can go mine for 3 days so that I can make 1 HV solar panel. I will admit I had some problems with EE when I first used it but it is a huge draw for this type of server. The time it takes to create some of this stuff is just to much for some people. Take out EE and you will see the already small community grow smaller which isn't our goal.

A map reset would be nice considering that some that have setup these lag factories are on either very rarely or lag so much they never log on. I will continue to make myself available to help people when I am in town. If people would like to msg me I would be more then willing to work with people and teach what I have learned by trial and error. Once people realize the true potential of tekkit without lag they can then continue to help others.
Tekkit map should be reset, and condensers should be banned or EE removed altogether. Either or is good in my opinion.
I'd suggest instead of removing EE alltogether, keep condensers (not collectors or relays) and just give a huge boost to the EMC value to items like glowstone, lapis, redstone, etc.. This'll make it so people can still use EE and makes it worth it to mine for resources.
I believe we should wipe the server. Everyone is swimming in Red Matter, I mean, what's the fun in that?

Considering EE, we should definately keep condensers, and MK 1 Relays/Collectors. That being said, we should continue to Have all world force-loading items banned, along with an AFK Auto-Kick timer, this will prevent people from just standing at their Condenser.

I say reset it all... keep condensors and quarries... and if possible you could ban regular transport tubes and just make people use pneumatic tubes
I vote for a map reset, but I feel you should make the current map public, so people may be able to save their builds? A map reset is a huge thing, and I know a lot of people have spent countless hours making builds...

Anyways, on top of a Map reset, I vote NO EE. Condensers are a maybe, but to me it would be a better experience without them. It would be WAY more challenging, and would likely keep me coming back for more.
What's the reason to remove EE? Putting a economy in place? I understand its causes massive amounts of RM to be onhand but what's the reason to remove it exactly. I don't care either way personally building the machines and having all the EMC handy to do it has been fun. Was making a Diamond Block Village for Villagers haha with all my extra EMC. What's the direction where going with the Tekkit server is there one?

Should all machines have a on and off switch? I think yes and personally if I didn't have one remove my machine all together will teach me a lesson on new server. (Laucain said this in chat one day and agree).

destruction cataclist... Removed first week in Tekkit some guy punched a billion holes in my island with this thing fail on my part not getting perms setup.

Side note below link if true would allow quite a few EE items if all RM tools where on the list to get removed.
