These facts are correct, Pompous. I remember these two wars well. Alot of fighting, some of most interesting battles and skirmishes I remember. As for my mining outpost/station in the war world during that time, it was only slightly damaged due to being made of pure obsidian, tho I was forced to retreat from the area for a short time. It was not long after that I managed to rediscover it and discretely salvage it's remains, the entire remaining outpost was recovered. And nobody was ever the wiser.. and as they say; the rest, is history.
Wow. Both of your recollections are definitely a lot more comprehensive than any of what I've read up until now.
Certainly, HKX-4-7, I'd never realized the great historical implications of the Millenium Empire, which up until now I'd believed to be a small, inconsequential city, certainly large in number for a modern faction but small in the long-lost days of factional greatness. I had never imagined that its achievements spanned so far and wide. Do you perhaps remember any battles or skirmishes that Pompous_Lemur forgot? After all, he did describe a few more vague conflicts which weren't expanded upon, likely due to relative lack of importance and chronological distance.
As to Pompous_Lemur's larger description of the World War, that was far more than I had dared to hope for, although it does bring up some new questions in addition to bringing a conclusion to existing ones. For instance, what were the motives for beginning the two wars that made up the World War; and, furthermore, are both to be considered no more than constituent parts of the World War as the larger conflict, or are they distinct enough to warrant two seperate names, as those by which you labelled them? These are among the most important questions to be answered before any attempt to write history can be made, for motive is often the most important aspect of a war.
As Clausewitz taught us, war is but a continuation of politics by other means; thus, if we are to fully understand and accurately record the events of the World War, we will need to know why it began and why it was continued, as well as why it eventually ended. The politics are as important as the battles.

If I recall correctly there was no actual motive for Vegas' attack on Valor, they just said they did it for fun and the fact that the War World was the first time people could use TNT. As for the motives in the Millenium-Helghan war, I believe it was to secure prime land and resources that where becoming sparse in the main world.
A large, but unknown, part of the wars were the espionage carried out by Valor and Espero on their rivals and enemies. At the time, these two factions had the most advanced and skilled espionage agencies, and this allowed them to gain the upper hand in a lot of conflicts. Valor even conducted a large amount of spying on their greatest ally Espero. The motives for Valor's spying on Espero was the rumored implementation of MoveCraft (I think it was called), which would of allowed construction of movable vehicles, aircraft, and ships. Valor wanted to know what Espero's secret plans were regarding the rumored plugin, and also stole many ideas from them and implemented them in their own prototypes. The plugin was never added though, and Valor later told Espero about the spying and there were no hurt relations.

Then I shall write that the former was the testing of newly-available military technology, and the latter was, well, exactly as you said, basically.

Interesting. I've been curious about the extent of Minetown intelligence agencies, as they didn't seem incredibly useful, but now I see that they could have played a far larger part than in history they did, if events had proceeded slightly differently.
It was movecraft, and we were also interested in some 'nukes'.
On valors website VIA has some more in depth information on its de classified ops, I may post it to the wiki. but most likey to keep it for something to Valorians to learn and study.

I understand that some information is sensitive and best to be kept from the general public, although if you ever choose to release it I would be interested in reading anything you are willing to let me read.
Where, may I ask, might I find a link to the Valorian website and access the declassified documents?
The first week of war world was just unreal. The weeks leading up everyone spent time gathering supplies and building alliances and bigger factions. Huge battles, espionage, betrayals. Some battles even stemmed back into the regular world haha. It was just too fun.
I remember I found someones secret base. Just laid the bottom with TNT and a pushplate at the entrance. Went back a few days later and it was just a crater.
