I would say it is educational because it teaches kids how to design and in an architectural angle to look at it, that could really help in a possible future job as one.
Considering minecraft's unrealistic physics engine, I'm not too sure, coaster
It helped my little cousin who has the same disorder as I do, which has to deal with visual-spacial problems. Mine is very minor but hers is on such a large scale that school has become extremely difficult for her. Minecraft and Tetris are actually helping her exercise her brain to combat it (she just builds in creative singleplayer so she doesn't deal with all the other aspects of the game). So....I guess it can help somewhat.

OK all of these comments i specifically like so lets start off with the most idiotic comment shall we:

Pokemon in no way is engineering apart of using red-stone it has no special use in the real life nor do i think it exists. It could be considered wiring but thats not engineering. engineering is more mathematics and architectural work it relies on building standards and codes. Think before commenting. Thanks for the Comment.

That came across as a bit of a dick thing to say...
As an architect in the making, I feel this game is of great benefit to me. True, It cannot show stresses and strains, but it can be used to practise landscaping/creative design.

On the other hand, it has caused me to have a vendetta against pigs, who have a habit of knocking me off ledges.

On the other other hand (how many hands do i have?), it also encourages basic social skills to those on multiplayer. Useful for later life.

On the incredibly numerous other hand, it advocates violence to make your surroundings suit yourself, and killing mobs.

VIOLENCE SOLVES NOTHING. EXCEPT WAR.

;D

Schaefer, of all your comments let's start off with the most idiotic comment, shall we?

;D i kid, however:

Although Poke is wrong in saying redstone is part of engineering, it is more part of systems & control/charge, Systems & Control is a branch of ELECTRICAL engineering. Which relies on mathematics and as Darth stated at the beginning, Boolean logic. Engineering, in my experience, is more Mechanics based. During my Engineering NVQ a year or so back, we were taught stresses, strains, technical drawing. Although this knowledge could be directly applied to architecture...it was not actually focused on architecture, nor did it rely on building standards.

On the note of Mathematics, however you are right.

Think before commenting. Thank for the comment.

Sorry <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object> I don't mean to pedantic nor arrogant, but realise this is the way it may come across.

And as an extra, I feel redstone circuitry can be very educational. Currently taking a Computing A-level, and I can apply what I've learned directly into Minecraft using redstone.
