Runecraft is a plugin that allows you to build (not craft) "runes" that can be activated and preform special actions or "enchant" items. For example, building the Fire Pick rune, then right clicking the center block of the rune with a Pickaxe would "enchant" the Pickaxe. The Pickaxe would then instantly smelt any block mined, so mining sand would drop glass instead of sand and mining iron ore would drop an iron ingot. There are also runes that allow players to walk on water, breath under water build teleporters, create a temporary force field, and much more.

This would be not only fun to have on MineTown, but useful for mining and transportation as well.

Some runes can be dangerous, but unwanted runes can be disabled by the owner of the server.

There is also a setting that lets only players who are allowed to use runes (The Initiator rune is needed for this.)

jallaf, everyone has an advantage over someone. you have advantage over any new players because your richer and been playing longer advantages over each other is not bad and cant be fixed. they don't matter either.

I dont see how this would give people advantages over other players. Some players already have big advantage over others with betters tools and materials. I am a horrible fighter, so I can't go mining without dying. As a result i'm usually stuck with stone tools. With one of the runes, the Power Pick, it lets you mine a large area at one time (see the Minecraft Wiki page). On another server, I was able to do large scale mining without having to go through caverns. In this way, it would actually help those who aren't good miners or fighters. You all should check out eh Minecraft Wiki page as see the other runes they have for you to build, like the Phantom torch, a torch that follows you around!
