Opinions can be dangerous, folks.
Alright, now that you've clarified, I think your point makes a bit more sense! You should have put that in the first post to begin with. It honestly just sounded like you wanted all teh haxx.
In regards to your point, IF Xray was the only hack "allowed' (assuming it's possible to allow only one hack to operate, not sure if that works or not), it *might* be a good idea because you do have a point. The reason I avoid the PVP server is because anything I build has a higher chance of being griefed. I don't see what the point is in building nice things there. Which is why it's easier to just make sloppy houses, but still, if my building can possibly be destroyed at any point & my stuff stolen, it would just frustrate me too much!
So basically,
xray only seems like a fair advantage to allow, if at all possible, as a sort of incentive to put up with the high rate of griefing. Payoff for pain. Your "kill points" seem reasonable too, wherein perhaps protection or powers are awarded for progress ( or even for getting griefed). I think experienced PVP players should add more to this if they can.
However, cheating and griefing leads to excessive chaos, hurt feelings, frustration, and anger. That doesn't seem like Minetown's style to me! This place seems more like a community that encourages growth and comradeship rather than a community that facilitates bickering and ongoing cycles of revenge. I'm sure that perhaps there have been factions that have clashed, as noted on the Wiki with the Minetown World War, but not on the scale you are suggesting, where all restrictions are lifted and everything is a free-for-all bloodfest. While it's true that PVP is a more challenging environment,
that doesn't mean we need to take away every limitation to make it easier to kill people! Yes, it would be easier to get revenge on those who destroyed your hard work, but it would be easier for them to get you back, too. Like I said - endless bickering, cycles of revenge.
Another thing you have to consider is the management that would have to go into the new server, such as regulating which hacks are allowed, dealing with extreme cases of griefing ( or not?? ), and all of the angry angry feelings that will spawn from this. The staff might have to get a few new admins for this server alone to make sure things don't get completely out of hand. (World War II, bigger and angrier...)
There are other solutions to your problem. Part of the thrill, for some people, of PVP is that nothing is protected, it's already sort of a free-for-all. Perhaps you should not make buildings that take three weeks to build on PVP, and never stay in one place if at all possible. I don't really know if a system like what I'm about to suggest is already on the PVP server, but an alternate solution would be a small vault you could store your most precious items in- not huge vaults to store
all your materials, you'd have to carefully choose what to keep completely safe there! - but at least you'd have a safe point for your most precious belongings so you could move around more often in the world and not have to carry that stuff with you. I think on the wiki somewhere it mentioned a plugin that allowed access
digital chest (not physical) where you could store things at any point, like an extra inventory, except it can't be stolen from.
I'm not attacking you or your opinion! I actually really like your view on this, I can see why you came up with it and how it might seem appealing. So, conversely, please respect my opinion (in regards to n0ttsweet or anyone else who wants to debate anything I've said).
In summary: - Xray seems like the fairest cheat in regards to what you've said about resources being a pain to find on PVP
- Kill points is an interesting reward system that perhaps should be looked into further for PVP-only gameplay, not necessarily to buy cheats but for other protective measures/powers if possible
- PVP battles result in hard feelings as it is, but unlimited cheats will most likely cause multiple fights, revenge cycles, and furious Minetownians to rage everywhere bluh...cheats just sound like they'd cause more problems!
- Try altering your gameplay; instead of having one singular base, move around more, stay in groups if you can, etc...I know this is a weak point in the argument but there have to be other ways to avoid getting griefed so easily...
- Perhaps using a mod such as a digital chest or vault nobody can steal from (physically, unlike chests) could be an alternative way to save your most precious items
Lastly, Agharta seems like it's setting up something a little more protected than PVP? Kingdoms seem like a great way to stay safe but still be able to go out and kill some peeps if you want. Not to mention arenas and tournaments, those are really fun and can help you get that fighting urge off your chest while winning some MT credits for your skill...

EDIT I discovered the digital workbench was for donators-only...so for the sake of this argument, perhaps we can say this server shall be unique? It already sounds drastically different from the other servers :/ But still, it might make the donator perk a little useless if it's given for free on one server but not the others...
