This glitch happens when you have a clone. The items are given back to your clone instead of you, and therefore don't drop.

No, because when I relogged i wasnt at the spot i died at.

After speaking to a couple other mods on this, the general consensus was that this doesn't qualify for a refund since the glitch wasn't able to be repeated. You might have had a clone and didn't know it. It seemed to be minimal loss and easily replaced.
