[Enjin Archive] Nether Contest Suggestion
Started by [E] xgamer888

Ahh, see. You didn't state it would be part of that event series, xgamer. Sorry for the misunderstanding between us, it was due to lack of information. If it's a one time thing, then yeah, that would be awesome. In your OP you made it sound as if every month there'd be a new building event for the nether, but now you clarified. Too bad I can't change my vote from no to yes. /<object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/2639.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":(">:(</object>

See Slurth, I wasn't wrong, nor was xgamer. Just because you don't agree with someone, you don't have to go exclaiming they're wrong on everything. /<object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>
There's one problem with this. Doing so makes the nether harder to use. Considering the fact that when you activate a portal in the real world, it creates on in the nether corresponding to coordinates

How does this make the nether harder to use? Because the area immediately surrounding the spawn portal entry would have some buildings around it? If anything it would make navigating that area easier due to land flattenting allowing for the placement of transferred builds.

... builds are bound to get messed up and destroyed.

By new portals being generated? New portals don't generate into or destroy blocks that are already there.

Another flaw, expanding the spawn area makes it harder to get resources (even if you prevented portals from spawning in that area). You'd have to walk very far before you get to the nether. We already have people complaining about the nether not having enough resources, and this would then make it even harder for those that complain.

Again, with the inherent flattening that would be required for the placement of the transferred buildings it would make it easier to get away from the spawn immediate area. The people complaining just don't understand (and it seems neither do you) just how huge the nether really is. Resources are boundless, I've literally watched the nether be generated as I walked further into it. The complainers need to sack up and walk a little longer. The nether is still being created by those who walk far enough.

Overall, I like the idea, but I find it impossible to do. No offense, of course. It would just create too many problems. Mainly, my concern is the portals... there's no way to prevent that except making the nether portal in the spawn the ONLY portal allowed... which would lead to the complaining about access to the nether (everywhere near would be stripped even more than it is now).

How is this impossible? If your only concern is the portal building then that's silly as well. If these builds are created in event world then the portals won't work anyway(to my knowledge.) Portal blocks I've placed in the End do not function as portals do in the normal world.

you said a monthly event... it would continually expand...

By only a couple 32x32 or 64x64 plots per month. That's very slow expansion.

I'm familiar with portal generation, as well. You don't need to act all condescending.

I know you won't think so, but often your posts come off as condescending as well. Probably because you think everybody's idea is impossible or has no merit.

The nether is lawless as well... there's no such thing as grief there.

Lawless yes, however people have been banned for griefing the spawn portal entry(on the nether side)(can't find the thread right now)

In addition, I wasn't trying to call his idea crap. Slurth, for once try actually reading everything I say.

I didn't say you called it crap, I said you were crapping on it. For once, you should try and actually read what I say

The post in question was opinion based, I used personal pronouns. Therefore, my thoughts can't be "wrong." Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I don't understand why you always have to try proving me wrong. Each time I always imply that both your argument and mine have merit, yet you always go out of your way to say I'm wrong, lol. I'll quote you if you want.

I see no personal pronouns. I see assertions that come across as attempted fact statements. A few "I thinks" or feel/believe/whatever would clear up this issue.

Still, out of everything I said... tell me how I'm wrong. I really want to hear it. Because, as far as I know, I'm right on everything.

You're too one dimensional

Continuous expansion... 1+ lots added every month... eventually it would get pretty large.

Eventually...sure. It's once a month, and if it was 2 transfers per month that's only 24 a year...It would add a great deal of flavor and aesthetics to the spawn nether entry.

As well, my points were based on the current spawn, Slurth. Don't go making wild assumptions that I'm wrong on everything. It's kind of embarrassing that you would call me out saying I'm wrong, when everything I said was correct, based on the OP. He added more later, which made me change in the post after.

So everything you say is both correct as far as you know, and correct universally... Interesting. We have an omnipotent player in our midst.

So Slurth, do us and yourself a favor, stop trying to prove me wrong on everything. Because, afterall, I'm right more so than wrong. Check on all my posts, it'll prove it to you.

Quit being wrong so often and I won't have to.
Slurth still complaining about what I said, when xgamer and I already settled this and found it was a misunderstanding. lol. Slurth... stop your cry for attention.

EDIT: I stopped reading your post after your second paragraph. I find it useless as what you're saying is now wrong, due to the fact it was already found to be a misunderstanding.
Xgamer hadn't posted when I started typing.

However, now you know what it feels like when somebody types so much...
I think Slurth wins this one.
Slurth doesn't "win." lol. Since when is this a competition? I highly doubt he thinks this is a competition, and if he does... then he's inferior (this is not meant to offend, because I don't think that you think argumentation/debate is a game).

As well... I honestly don't give a damn what people think about me when I type. People put their two cents in... I put mine in. We're all entitled for a chance to speak. I just put more thought and time into my posts than most other people. Just accept that, Fettuccini.
Ohh You done got told Fettuccini!

Thank you gentlemen, it seems that you both agree with the original post now that it has been clarified?
Oh I always liked the idea.
