[Enjin Archive] SOPA and PIPA opinions
Started by [E] Tabbystripes

To be honest, its a load of crap how the US government think they can stop websites doing what they are doing, I'm english, and I'm 15, and I think its wrong, I don't know much about Americans law or the bills and amendments but still, it is against Americans rights, and free speech if this bill is passed, and I predict riots over america if it is.
Then if it gets through sawine should move to the U.K
Well, If they give the US (I live there too) a little show of it, what website do you think it'll be.
Good thing im in sweden .

But i still hope this doesnt happen, cause minetown is based in USA right?
No idea.
What everyone is failing to relize is that if passed, this will not effect "JUST" the U.S.. This Will effect everyone globally, Becuase of the fact that other countries get information and research off of websites from america..

As far as Americans Rioting ovver this goes...Ive noticed one thing abotu US "GOOD OL FASHION" americans...We have become the people who just dont care..This is why the govement gets away with what they do in the first place..

People will cry the blues about it, but wont really stand up and do what it really takes to shut the goverment up or stop the mfrom passing RIDICULOUS bills like this one..

No, We will take it in the ass with a silver spoon and say oh its okay it wont get that bad...

#0 years ago, it used to be, if you thought the goverment was secretly conspiriring against the US, people thought you were nuts...now its completly VISE versa...

sawine is Canadian but this point is moot because Minetown is BASED on Minecraft, which is Swedish, I believe.
A lot of your points are well-meant but not related - I highly recommend everybody read the bills (or a summary) yourselves. It is not in direct terms a censor, but it is the ability for the government to censor anything that infringes on the copyright of another. While copyright protection is definitely a good thing, these bills choose to do that by redirecting DNS domains as they see fit, including sites like search engines and social media sites. It would make it illegal for a website to have a user submit something, with or without permission of the owner. See how that can be a huge burden?

And Minecraft would not be affected - it is a game. It would be theoretically possible, however, for Enjin to be put in the guillotine for something unpreventable.

Also, it is to stop piracy - if you don't know what domain forwarding is, it's how we get "mc.minetown.net" to automatically go to "216.234.110.138". You could still access most sites by using the IP address. So, really, it is doing so much harm but very little good.
This is getting complicated... <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f635.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":dizzy:">:dizzy:</object>

But i get the part that SOPA and PIPA is one bad thing tho.
