[Enjin Archive] Upgrading my Gaming CPU
Started by Unknown User

Mostly, there was ALOT of dust in the big circlely fan. (heatsink?) I got most of it out with compressed air but I just ran out of my can <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/2639.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":(">:(</object>

my friend is currently making fun of me for choosing the XFX Radeon HD 6870 over the EVGA Geforce 560 Ti.. But the Ti is like $50 more for pretty much the same card.
Can you see a difference in the cpu temp after cleaning the heat sink and fan?
Those temps I posted were after I tried cleaning it. I still need to find more compressed air to finish the job.
but you pay the 50$ more for that much better quality
yes buy the $50 extra one it will perform better overall
He already bought the video card.
oh then idk
Just to give you guys a little update on whats happening.

I received the XFX Radeon HD 6870 and I loved the way it handled games but there was a couple of things I didn't like about it.

The first being the Bottom DVI port on it was a DVI-D port meaning I couldn't use a VGA monitor on it even when using a VGA to DVI adapter. That was a problem for me considering I use my 23 Inch LCD screen and other small LCD screen as VGA. Yes the 23 inch has an HDMI port on it for my xbox.

The second problem was the GPU ran HOT. Idle it ran around 62 Degrees C and under a load its always around 75 to as hot as 85 degrees C. Although I'm thinking since Idle it runs that hot its just my case thats the culprit, it has no side fan and theres not too much space left in it and I think everything is getting a bit clustered. More dust could be removed but I ran out of canned air lol.

So instead of buying a DVI monitor I figured it would be cheaper to return my graphics card and buy the one you guys were recommending.

So I just bought this on amazon

So far I love it, I tested it running a trial account of WoW running around Stormwind/Orgrammar on Ultra settings with V/Sync turned on. The lowest FPS it dropped to was 35 in front of the Orgrammar AH but it quickly arises back to 60. Although I don't think it's good to test that in WoW since FPS in WoW is more about your internet connection than your hardware.

Also this came with a copy of Arkham City which hasn't even released yet, but I have my steam code I just got to remember to use it next month.

I'm currently using EVGA precision to check my card temperature, just with firefox and some windows open it runs around 52c. Like I said my stock fans and case is most likely the culprit. Although when running wow on ultra settings it only got as hot as 70c. I should test it with BFBC2 on the highest settings.

But anyways, what do you guys think? These temps look right to you?
