[Enjin Archive] Upgrading my Gaming CPU
Started by Unknown User

Yeah maybe.

That graphic card is nice, do your MB have Crossfire support? I'm thinking if you ever wanna buy a second one, you will support it.

I dont think so.

This is my Mobo

You linked a chipset
You're completely right, I finally found the motherboard after opening up my case and writing down all the serial numbers I found.

Here it is, a piece of shit.

GATEWAY TBGM01-1.0-8EKS3H MOTHERBOARD, TBGM01-10-8EKS3H

I need help finding drivers..... this is really bothering me....
Anyways, A little update on the upgrades I'm going to buy for my computer.

For video card I'm either going to get

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604

I'm also going to get a new HDD.

I was looking for a 7200 RPM, 6 Gbps, 1.5 TB HDD for no more than $80

I just hope with all these new upgrades my PSU can handle all the extra stuff
From the information I can gather, it seems like you have a Intel i7 processor. These are some of the latest chips from Intel and it should be able to perform fairly well.

Have you tried running speedfan or another temperature program yet?

Does your heat sink for the processor need cleaning? (I use compressed air & Q-Tips/ alcohol to clean)

Maybe you should buy a aftermarket heat sink.

The graphics cards you link would be a nice upgrade for sure. I think which one you buy is just a preference. I personally like the XFX brand. I have had 3 of there gpu cards so far.

If I was in the market for a new hard drive I would consider an SSD for the operating system. Then use the old hard drive you have to load everything on.

Or something like this one if you don't want to go the SSD route. I like the hard drives with a 5 year warranty.

this one is smaller but cheaper

For CPU's and GPU's this site is my favorite for unbiased comparisons.... i could detail how i know its legit but just take my word for it ;D

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

they show a number and a price... basically all you need... also!

for the record... i have the Raedon 5850 and the AMD phenom X6 1055T and i can run fallout 3 max, crysis warhead max, GTA4 max (aside from like view distance at 100% or something ridiculous) and pretty much anything ever...

id recommend this setup personally...

Radeon HD 6850 X2 Crossfire

CPU + MOBO = http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.728546

cost will be a little under $700 but youd ahve a F&%$ing monster...

also your power supply will need to be a 700W one... but helll youd have a beast machiene
huh.... I think i just fixed my boot up problem... basically this computer came with a Realtek USB card reader on the front of it, it has a bunch of card readers and 2 USB ports... When I first used the computer this device gave me bsod's during shutdown saying "driver power state failure" after updating their drivers I never got that error again, but I just tried was opening up my computer and unplugging that device entirely and basically that stopped my problems! <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f600.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":d">:d</object> I can even run CPU-Z with the computer shutting down. I'll try running other programs that might cause that..

Whats weird is according to core temp all my processors are running around 40 degress celcius.. I don't remember them ever being that cool, maybe im being paranoid.....

but yeah, little update on the gfx card.. I just purchased this.

Just to let you guys know I just tried running 3D futuremark Vantage and my PC turned off on the 2nd Graphics performance test.

Possibly from the PSU or Overheating.
