This tax thing is bullsh*t in my, and many others opinion...

It's really not. There have been 10 times more reasons why it better benefits the economy then why it dosn't. Just because you don't like your money being taxed, does not mean its bullshit, or stupid. Everyone, including the oldest of the oldest members have been taxed 80% It's all 100% fair, and now, the mtc is worth 80% more then it was a few days ago.

I don't like not having money either, but Even I Agree with the tax. And I'm probably one of the biggest pessimist's on minetown.
actually the TAX should only apply to later on trading...those existing shouldnt be deduct. It's hard earn MTC...
You see, some people save the money bcause they feel like buying mansion or any property....now out of sudden no money, it's a unfair idea...

Or probably gives some time to use the balance etc..........imaging Gov impose tax today, it doesnt apply to what you'd already own..
OR, like i know few of people wanna be millionaire and they vote hard ......and reach 1M finally...

and it's out of suddenly disappear 800k....

Tax is good, but it imposed in the wrong way.....

You're very wrong when you say this. Yes, you have less money, but because EVERYONE has been taxed 80%, this money is worth just as much as it was before.

Example.

If you were selling a mansion for 500k before the tax, it might be a reasonable price.

80% tax comes in, you have to reduce the price; 500k of taxed money is worth much more (It was originally 2,500,000MTC)

Unless you're talking about the 'achievement' of getting to 1,000,000MTC, you're wrong again.

It doesn't matter though, you haven't LOST 800k, because everyone has been taxed, and your money is simply worth 80% more than it did before.

...I hope this helps you understand

The Credit Shop prices remained the same though :/

They sure did, one of the issues with the inflation was that there was no such thing as "hard to get" items anymore. Now the more expensive items are once again, expensive.

Why didn't you guys just raise the prices instead of giving everyone the perception of being screwed out of all the mtc they have been saving up? I mean, in the end, nothing else is really affected by this tax in any meaningful way whatsoever. That would have been just as easy, if not easier.

Instead, this potential scenario was chosen: Everyone loses 80% of the mtc they had before. Ok, prices drop by 80%. Theoretically. So something that might have cost 5% of my mtc to buy from someone before the tax will now cost 5% of my mtc to buy from that same person after the tax. Again, theoretically. This, of course will only be true in the unlikely event that most shop owners actually adjust their prices appropriately. Which of course, most probably won't because "derp, I need to make my mtc back that I lost, so I better not drop my prices!" Because of this, the minority of sellers who actually do adjust their prices (most likely this group will be made up almost exclusively of the people who ALREADY hold the vast majority of the server's wealth) will be making all the money, putting the the server's distribution of wealth even more out of whack that it has been for who even knows how long now. Next thing you know, your tax just made the state of the economy even worse than it has was for the average player! Remember, lots of ideas work in theory; very few of those ideas can be successful in practice when human nature and intelligence (and lack of) come into play.

Obviously, this isn't necessarily what is going to happen, but you can't deny that it is a perfectly likely scenario given that we are sort of dealing with an internet video game economy, probably more than 50% of which consists of kids under the age of 15 who don't know the first thing (and/or just plain don't care) about how a basic economy works.
@Fettuccini

SHH! Don't come in here with your logic!

all this tax did was cause the socialist on the server to go all up in arms about how the tax is unfair and the rich should be taxed more... The spawners out there are still pumping out items like no tmro and there are still way to many "endgame" items.
