when it came out there was so much hate about it that people on main were threatened with bans... since then no one has dared speak against it...

I don't recall such things happening, but I might not have seen it. Anyhow, those bans wouldn't have stayed if they would have ever been issued.
Also, it is on our to-do list to implement "universal" and "global" channels.
This shouldn't be an issue soon.
