My name is sol i was banned from this server about a year ago <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/2639.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":(">:(</object> when i had just started playing minecraft (im still sorry for using an xray pack i didnt know it was against the rules) but anyway, my dad had made a really cool bukkit plugin called printbot <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f632.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":o">:o</object> which allows for a worldguard region or world edit clip board (plot me integration will also be added) to be selected and with a simple command (/print), uploaded to the printcraft website where you can then order your model via some 3D printing companies or if you have a 3d printer, download it a print it yourself! There are also plans for full paypal integration where if someone orders a model you get 25% of the profit ! i thought as on the main world world guard is used lots fot towns and other things this would be a great server for such a plugin!

I'm getting a 3d printer soon maby we can look into it landro however not sure swine would install a plugin more then likely it would be copied onto a new world and the download given instead of putting something that sounds like it requires we perms and interfaces with we sounds like a bad day for the dev team to ensure its 100% safe I don't think they would risk it...

but ya my 3d printer will (should) have ~5x5x5 in print surface (not huge not small) so if you wanted I might be able to make something.

btw its not expected until ~August sometime ...

We most likely wont allow your plugin unless a dev can fully go over the source, how do we know there's not a backdoor in the plugin that allows you to crash the server and/or gain op?

I happen to be a 3D graphics artist. So we might be able to work together. I'm assuming as you said its a 5x5x5 surface. That to me indicates you wither got the RepRap pre-assembled or the makerbot.

No infact it may be larger let me look...

Printing Output: 150mm wide x 110mm deep x 90mm tall (5.90551in wide x 4.33071in deep x 3.54331in tall)

Its a new cheap printer called the makibox A6 HT Acrylic going for 300 I also got ~100$ worth in abs plastic assorted colors.

It would be great to work on stuff maby make some minetown promo items to sell on the site (or donor rewards).

I worked out the cost one day and assuming abs plastic has a constant density of 1.04 g/cm^3 and i have 1kg of an assort ment of colors bought for $16 per 1kg :

1000/1.04 = 961.5385...

16 / 961.5385... = .01664 per cm^3 of print

15cm x 11cm x 9cm = 1485cm^3 (total print area)

1485*.01664 = 24.7104

so a full block filling the whole printing bed would cost $24.7104?

so more then a full spool ofc anything printed would not be solid.

My best advice for calculating costs is to actually work on printing simple primitives. Prints things like spheres and cubes. Then work on printing a simple cup. scale up the detail on each model. weigh plastic after each use. also another thing to keep in mind. Extruder type printers suffer from a issue where you cannot print hanging structures. IE like a tree in MC where the leaves are away from the middle. The best solution is to print in parts not as a whole. One of the best resources i can give you for 3D Printing would be this website.
