Mac users do this: Go to your home folder/Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/ and dump the jar file in there replacing the old one. Done.

Problem!: It isn't on Application Support. I clicked and dragged the "minecraft" folder but I doubt that works.

I did that but now my connection is suoer laggy idont know if its just me or that happenens now

to get back to 1.4 you shoulda kept the original minecraft.jar file in a obvious place so that way when the server updates you can just delete the "illegal" one and then replace with the "old" 1.4 version
