[Enjin Archive] PVP Server - Staff PVP Participation
Started by [E] DanniDorrito

No player on PVP server who participates in PVP or faction should have ANY mod powers...

sure... they dont DO anything, but i have seen mods abusing /tp, heard of them abusing view inventory. and i simply dont care if they "wont" they shouldnt have access..

staff is a privileged, not a right, and its not some club you get to be in for more power...

People view staff as some 'bonus check' and seem to forget its about work, ive never been staff, i dont want the responsibility.

if youre staff, you should know what that means and MAKE SACRIFICES!!!!!!!

if you want to play, use an alt for God sake

It is demote- and even banable to abuse powers on any MT server. However, being staff member gives you some knowledge that members just doesnt have. Some of our tasks includes warping to player bases to investigate problems which for an example gives us information of how the base looks like and so on. Unfortunately this information doesn't just go away when you switch account :/

Staff tasks and staff duties simply gives you information that can be abused if we are not carefull, and that is the real problem.

A thing that could solve this problem would be making only the dedicated pvp staff have perms to deal with these problems and limit other staff perms to mute/kick/ban. The dedicated staff could do normal pvp fight but no raiding. This would however limit the number of staff dealing with the problems and pe's but i guess that's not too bad since there's not that many issues.

EDIT: I do agree that alt's would solve alot problems. Just not the knowledge problem. It's a huge advatage to know how your enemy's base looks like <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>
We have recieved more staff reports than any other server.

If I go on there now and start killing people I'd get accused and reported.

Personally, staff should use alt accounts to PVP and just do moderator duties on their staff account. This completely eliminates any possibility of staff being accused. It also means staff can still play alongside you and watch the server without it being a problem <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>

Also, staff joining in on PVP has caused more than its fair share of arguments and conflict. We've had staff fall out with each other over the PVP server so using alts would just save so many problems.
How about remaking the staff faction? A neutral faction that doesn't participate in PvP and pretty much lives on the PvP server like a faction lives on the main server (= survival, griefing not allowed, regionprotection, ...).

Petitions may only be handled by these players, due to what johan said: the knowledge advantage.

This would give the staff members something to work on inbetween petitions and keep them motivated.
i have a non-pvp faction i made up on PVP cause im never there to pvp...any time im there im just doing some work cause someone popped over and requested me in main...perhaps set something like that up for pvp work where a few staff that really dont pvp just need to check in daily for any pe work then go back to wherever they want to be in the servers if the other options are too much of a problem with the knowledge base that will be given.
