I have been hesitant to put this out there but here it is. I do know a large amount of java and how to use it. The matter is that when i have attempted to open a large number of the files i get a few lines that are readable java code but a large amount of it is not available by basic interpreter. If you'd like me to start moding (WARNING I will work as fast as I can but I do lots of different projects) I need someone to go out there and figure out how i can get into the internals of minecraft. I will also accept suggestions for mods later. first i need someone to find me the raw code so i can start trying to figure out how notch is doing this wonderful program.

Please post links to where i can find the raw code for both serverside and clientside. I need both if i'm truly going to break a lot of this down. I will work on making mods once i understand a section of code. I also will need some help with how to incorporate the files themselves. I know how to code not necessarily how to interpret the file systems.

DO NOT GET ON MY CASE ABOUT THIS.

CatMan. I said i needed the base code and i would ask for requests later. As for your request, That's not the type of thing this server needs. We have enough people using commands just "for fun" and making a recordless version would just be irresponsible.

Could you make a mod that allows us to grow flowers and mushroms?

How about a mod to show the messages players just typed with the message "Does anybody else actually care? Y/n" before confirming the send?

You should rather start looking around Bukkit forums, I dont think you will find any helpful infos on here. And I think you should look more on how the plugins are made, I dont think that decoding how to game engine works will help you make a plugin, understanding how Bukkit works could though.

I found a decent lead in on how to set up bukkit. I thank bukkit for making the entire system into just simple event listeners (which aren't that simple but it could be worse). People would you please suggest simple mods that we might actually want on the server. And if someone who knows how to implement mods please give me some info so i can do testing.

Hmmm.... Perhaps you could try a trading mod. It would be hard, but I reckon it would be possible.

Happyworm, I think i will definitely put my time towards a guaranteed trading mod. Unfortunately this is not a great starting project. I have thought of this being necessary before and am glad you reminded me. Doing this would make me skin a new type of interactive screen so that both people are accessing the same screen but only their side. I don't know of any mods that actually mess with a screen such as a crafting screen. If you want to go help and find one i can try to figure it out. At worst i should be able to make chests swap items but i don't know how i'd hook them together without special rightclick actions.

D: But that's ok, I thought it would be hard. Well, I have no idea of modding difficulties, But it couldn't be hard to give lava the same properties as water while keeping the light? This would make lava awesome without griefing. :S If that's too hard, or impossible, I have absolutely no idea. :S
