[Enjin Archive] I request a change in the land claim system...
Started by Unknown User

hello,

currently the land claim system for claims of large house, large areas of land and towns is:

make request

wait 6 months

then if no reply or change to indicate activity of said area the area becomes yours.

for me personally. this. is. ridiculous.

i request a change in the time limit for land claim. or an explination to why the time to claim land is so long.

i have a developing town. it is surrounded on two sides by claimible land which i could use to expand. both sides are inactive, one is a small, abandond town. the other is an inactive players house. it will take me 6 months to expand my town. how is this reasonable? i know the rules are to favor the land owner, but this is overly in favor. by the time my request is approved, it will be christmas 2013. by that time, minetown my be an inactive server (doubtful but possable) or my town will be dead. but if it was reduced to a MAXIMUM of 2 months, and then if it is clear that the player has been inactive for a long time, or the land has been abandond then it is reduced...

i am not going to name anyone, but anyone i have talked to about this, including mods have agreed with my argument. this rule mean that inactive areas, cannot be claimed by active players, and by the time the claim is approved, the player may be inactive.

also the staff moderating it seem to be minimal and inactive to this area of forums (no offence)

i hope the staff see reason in my argument, and players.

i would be glad to see any support by players in the comments, to show staff ow much of a problem this is

people may not agree with me, but i doubt they would have the same situation as me.

thanks for reading and please see reason.

I agree, land claim times are very long. In some cases, the land is needed to be claimed to keep a town alive, but the length of time needed halts, and can ultimately, kill a town. I would say 1.5 Months, unless the owner has left a statement on the forums saying he won't be for a specific amount of time, and for no one to claim his land; given he presents a valid reason; such as Jeff_Hendrie has done.
So you decide to take a break from minecraft for a couple of months.

Then come back to find everything you have put a lot of work into and done has been claimed and taken from you?

The time will not be reduced because we dont even like the fact you can take something that someone else spent a lot of time working on. The current process was specifically made to be difficult and off putting to claim anything because before the process was put into place everyone was trying to claim anything they could. A lot of greedy people were getting what they can, some even sold off the land after they had claimed it.

The process is wait 6 months minimum and ensure there is full proof you have contacted the player asking to have the land (This means all forms of contact possible: forums, ingame signs and ingame mails). If the person comes back and agrees to give it you (Which has happened) then you get it instantly.

Now stop complaining that you can't take something that isn't yours. The process is there for a specific reason. Don't like it? Then relocate to a larger area far away from other builds x
Why don't you move the inactive area to another area so it's not in barneys way, that way everyone is a winner?
If I went inactive I wouldnt want my area moved because some kid built too close to it. Most the time we cannot determine who built in an area first and its extremely unfair to move someone elses area.

Also it is not the staffs job to run about looking for a place to move an inactive players town because someone wants their land.

The staffs job is to moderate the server, if the player wants the land they must follow the procedure or relocate.

Stop trying to give staff a bigger workload, staff already do a lot for the server.
Alright alright, just making a suggestion O.o

So we start doing that and person comes back and starts complaining that they lost their area.... Hows that a win? The current system is fine and was put in place for a reason. I know I had to take some time off and it was hilarious to come back and find multiple posts trying to claim my area. If we simply moved my stuff how is that fair to me? Hours of developing the area would be lost. Not to mention the fact that we would have to more then likely move their area twice. If they come back what do we move Barney's stuff back out to move them back in? Rollback the area?

People just need to be patient. I had someone in my way and I had to wait quite some time just like everyone else. End result I got the area problem solved.
Should never be able to claim other peoples stuff if it was up to me.
player comes back after afew months off to find his/her area reclaimed= they should have left a message somewhere

i see your reason in this system, but i think it would be better to have a 'personal review' where a staff member comes and review the situation, then they can decide what is best to do for the situation

i understand the staff have alot to do, but thats not really an exucuse for this.

please dont get angry at me aswell for making a request, i only ask for a change, im not being offensive, stupid or irritating, there is no need for such an angry reply danni

please can we have a calm talk about this?
maybe employ a land claim committie or something, i just want the system to run smoother, and benefit more people. im not saying make it easier to claim land, im trying it to make it quicker when it can be. so if a player is clearly been gone or is inactive then the staff can see that and say 2 weeks, instead of 6 months, or maybe more than 6 months? i am trying to make the system more flexible for people with different situations....

im not really saying reduce the max time and leave it at that, but change the system so it fits the situation.

i think my OP was unclear on what i really wanted
