Yeah that's right, GHOST MISSINGNO, BIRCHES!

Now let's all gather round the campfire for two of the most epic Lavender Town Stories.

The Lavender Town Syndrome (also known as "Lavender Town Tone" or "Lavender Town Suicides") was a peak in suicides and illness of children between the ages of 7-12 shortly after the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, back in February 27, 1996.

Rumors say that these suicides and illness only occurred after the children playing the game reached Lavender Town, whose theme music had extremely high frequencies, that studies showed that only children and young teens can hear, since their ears are not fully developed.

Due to the Lavender Tone, at least two-hundred children supposedly committed suicide, and many more developed illnesses and afflictions. The children who committed suicide usually did so by hanging or jumping from heights. Those who did not acted irrationally complained of severe headaches after listening to Lavender Town's theme.

Although Lavender Town now sounds differently depending on the game, this mass hysteria was caused by the first Pokémon game released. After the Lavender Tone incident, the programmers had fixed Lavender Town's theme music to be at a lower frequency, and since children were no longer affected by it.

One video appeared in 2010 using ”special software" to analyze the audio of Lavender Town's music. When played, the software created images of the Unown near the end of the audio. This raised a controversy, since the Unown didn't appear until the Generation 2 games: Silver, Gold, and Crystal. The Unown translate to "LEAVE NOW".&nbsp There is also the said Beta Version of Lavender Town.

I met my best friend in elementary school. We had both brought our Gameboys to school one day and sat together at lunch once we realized what we had in common. I had Blue version and a Venausaur, he had Red version and a Charizard. He and I battled whenever we could and became great pals. As the years went on, we continued playing Pokemon, even through high school. Throughout all of the Pokemon generations and versions we went though, the battles never became dull.

As we approached college, we had to go separate ways. We didn't speak much after that; we had such busy lives to follow in college. I didn't think we would ever regain the friendship we once had. Then, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were released in 2007 and we once again enjoyed our common interest in the series. We battled and talked over Wi-Fi nearly every day for a few weeks after its release.

My friend told me that he planned to play through his old Red version again. Since it had been about three months after the release of Diamond and Pearl, we didn't play them as much as before. I asked him why he wanted to play that dusty old cartridge, and he responded, "I don't know, maybe I'll find something that no one has found before."

Despite my unwillingness to run through my Blue version with him, he played his Red version anyway. After he started his journey, I never talked to him again. About three weeks later, I received a call from my friend's parents.

Even though he never had any similar problems before, he died from what was speculated to be an intense seizure. He was alone in his dorm room until a roommate, who was unfortunately too late, found him lying on the ground, lifeless, and strangely wearing his favorite headphones. I flew out as soon as I could to attend his funeral. His roommate, who was going to attend as well, informed me that just days before the incident my friend was becoming obsessed with Lavender Town and its music. My friend had aspired to become a sound engineer after graduating and had a wide range of audio skills at his disposal. He could always hear quiet sounds vividly while I failed to even recognize them at all.

As soon as he rediscovered Lavender Town, he ripped its audio to his computer and began experimenting with it. Interestingly, he bragged about finding a rare rip of the music from the first distributed batch of the Japanese-exclusive Green version. Not specifically referring to the special Japanese version, he had told the roommate that, "The frequencies in this song are different; they blend together in a special way. But there's something missing. I think something was meant to be mixed in, but it never could have worked on the Gameboy. It was so limited in terms of sound bandwidth." I had the chance to go through his laptop one last time, so I visited his Recent Items list. At the very top read "lavender.wav". Along with a few photos of us together, I copied this to my flash drive. Caught in my sadness over my best friend's death, I ignored the audio file until a few weeks before writing this. I somehow recently decided that I needed to retrace what had happened.

Driven by my desire to know what caused his untimely death, I opened the properties dialog box for the audio file, without opening the file to listen to it. Within the comments section of the metadata, he had written, "binaural tones, i added the necessary frequencies, i know why lavender town sounds so sad, and i know the part that was missing". Even eerier, I looked in his default audio program (still without listening to the file) and found the playcount for this file. One. I chatted with a sound enthusiast online in hope to decipher these cryptic comments. He gave me some special software which would analyze the audio in real time and said that was the most that could be done. This video is a screen recording of me running the aforementioned software with the original audio file. To this day I have not listened to the actual audio, as I am too emotionally disturbed by my best friend, Anthony's, death.

Here is the video showing the audio frequency images

While I'm watching this audio strip, I had the desire to report anything that occured whilst looking at it, I close my eyes to get the full effect.

First thing i notice is that my head starts to feel all fizly inside, I start to role around to stretch a bit, once I stoped stretching, i also stopped the audio since its unbearably annoying and my head started hurting. Then i open my eyes, I was actually looking directly at my knife, with the feeling in me, that i HAD to grab it. Before i did, i read the rest of your post, then i started to panic, i locked all my knives and anything sharp inside of my safe then listened to a bit of C418 music to change the tone inside my head... and a stomach ache :p

If you think im bullsh¡++ing, im not lying, and im really scared D:

Now, to sit along on mumble as i fear for the worst =/

HALP IM SCARED D;
I have a story to tell, one of which scares me the most,

In Perth in Swan View, just up my street there is a herritage trail which used to be a traintrack.

About 2 km up the path from there, there is a tunnel, which is obviously haunted!

2 Stories I know of, Which one of which is the man who was walking though the tunnel (about 30 years ago) had a heart attack!

In the time of the disaster, is when the train would usually go past that tunnel at that day of the week (Sunday 11:12am)

This train that would travel that tunnel, had also crashed for unknown resons, theres plenty of tales of the hauntings of the area of which this train crashed.

I haz nudder one too =D

In Perth there is also a prizon (in Fremantle) which is not used anymore, whenever people take the night tour though there usually get the feeling of being watched, and random wisperings coming from the cells. When people usually take photos there can be floating orbs in the background, most of the girls in my year were scared shitless and stayed at the back of the group to avoid ghosts (I of which was near there since my friend Taylah was there and I felt the need to make sure she didnt scare anyone else. (squeeling)

After that trip, we looked at the photos to see Taylah, looking scared in a photo, behind her was a large floating orb of some sort, when zoomed in enough it showed a face of an old man who had a nice beard.

:3

There is the moans and crying heard in the old Fremantle asylum which have been reported my thousands.

The Haunted Girls bathroom in GreenMount primary school in which they would hear babies footsteps and sniffles even if they were there alone.

The Ghost of the Pilbra Wonderer, also known as Red Dog (Kelpie) Seen running round Australian outbacks till this day even though he died in 1979.

The alkimos shipwreck in which a man in a black cloak is seen standing on the nose of the ship which is just poking from the water.

The Fremantle Arts centre used to be an asylum, people hear the cryings and whinings of patients all the time >:3

Since my father used to work at a cemetary (he dug the graves) hes got a couple of creepy stories to tell :p

I have a bottle that my grandfather gave me, its shaped as a ship, when i take the cork out, i hear something its a wisper in my ear! It says..

"If you build it, they will... nyan..."

poptart1red1.gif

Sorry i got scared and i had to add this to make me less scared :)
I've listened to the Lavender Town theme so many times and sometimes for hours at a time, that I no longer feel any of the symptoms of the Syndrome. You could say, Ghost type no longer affects?
I had forgotten about this until now. In 93' I was at some sort of event school had in the fall. Most of the parents were socializing and remained up in the gym. There was an area known as the "Lower Doughnut" as it was a round flat area overlooking a ravine and containment pond. The "Upper Doughnut" referred to the roundabout on the side of the school. Most of the lower area was surrounded by woods and very tall grass. It was getting dark and we were collecting walnuts and hacking up pokeweed plants and pretty much just running around in the woods. In case you have never heard of it, pokeweed looks very similar to rhubarb but it grows to a pretty good height and is extremely poisonous in all parts except for the smallest leaves. We collected it because of the color and because it looked pretty cool.

The pokeweed grew on one side of the doughnut and there was a clearing that we would go into during recess at school on the opposite side that was much higher up. Around dusk when there was still enough light to see clearly we went down a trail into the clearing to pile up the pokeweed and walnuts. This area was rocky since it was adjacent to a ravine and the rocks looked like they had blood on them. Looking back now it could have been lichen or iron so that can be explained. It was weird then but was probably nothing. After seeing the rocks we went deeper into the woods and saw something that is giving me chills writing about now. Looking completely black and white like in an old movie we saw a man standing not too far ahead of us with a stovepipe hat and a suit. To make it even worse he was holding a blunderbuss and walking towards us. We screamed and ran the 1/4 mile back to our parents who dismissed it as "someone's dad messing around to scare people". There were about 10 of us in that group and the fact that we all noticed the same thing makes it creepy.

Thinking about it now, that was the most terrified that I have ever been in my life. Nothing has come close to that level since then.

Here is a photo of about what the guy looked like. (Not the same person but imagine this with a blunderbuss)
