Answer to the material thing = credits. On this server all you have to do to get free items is vote for the server and you get money to spend on things.

It's probably 75/25 ratio of gathered to spawned items here and alot of people have spawner farms to gather wool and other materials from. All in all, you will find that people have alot more diamonds and rare items on this server than most places so its pretty easy to build stuff.
