No it's free. You were probably looking at getting a server. You just need to download the client.

Read the thread correctly -_- Yes it is necessary to have mumble and be able to use it and yes it is free to install and use. It own your own mumble it costs but dont click that option. Read their website correctly and follow the right buttons to download free x

Mumble is free. Although I never knew 16 wasn't required. Might give it a go myself.
