[Enjin Archive] PVP Server updates & polls
Started by [E] sawine

Hey guys,

Today the staff had a meeting concerning the PVP server.

We discussed multiple things and decided that the opinion of the community would be necessary to conclude some of them.

We would like to hear your opinion on: TNT Price, Creeper explosions in factions regions and MCMMO.

If you would like to state your opinion on those topics, please do so on the respective threads.

The other subjects and things planned to be implemented to the PVP server are: MobArena, Market and Adminshop.

Those should be implemented in the next days.

Regarding the population (amount of players) on the PVP, nothing much can be done in the immediate. There should be an increase of players as we get our hub server set up when we are done with the software. It will be easier for players to get (and discover) the server.

If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to submit them.

You guys should try and merge or make a deal with the guys owning and developing the server 'MineZ'

It's a server that is a Minecraft version of Day Z, and it's very detailed. That would get your popularity up for sure, and I couldn't see them saying no to a deal with one of the biggest servers around town :p

Slightly off topic but just a thought.
I think making the server a tad easier for new players would bring in more members. I left because it was too difficult, as there were two supreme factions that had twenty members and they could overpower all the little factions.

my suggestion is to maybe having a more balanced thing, like there be two Minetown Official factions, (Like Red-Blue or something) that were rivals, new members can join. they have preset bases and are run by staff. Player-Based factions cannot ally/enemy these factions, and faction members can have certian kits. We can even have official Donator factions (Maybe Yellow-Green, Yellow allies red Green allies blue) This would do a good job of keeping it fair and equal for those that want a fair fight. If you wanted to join an official faction, you'd be sorted randomly. You can leave anytime if a staff allows it.

What do you all think of this?

Server merge(s) are delicate topics and bring more hassle than good really. (well...) Regarding donation splits and the direction of the server. For a merge to be working properly, we would have to share a lot of common ideas and... a lot more common things to say the least.

Our staff is pretty unique and not a lot of servers take the time to look into their members as we do here. Which makes it even more delicate.

Regarding the DayZ suggestion, we are already planning to launch a "zombie world" that will be something a bit like the "Cow World" in Diablo2, (tons of other comparisons could probably be made)

But, we already have plenty of talented staff members, our own hardware, ... there isn't much incentive on making a server merge... there would need to be a very good reason to make one.

Again, the amount of players online on our servers should increase a lot when we complete the new vote system and put in place the "cloud/proxy" as we will be offering different worlds for different kind of people/members. It will be easier for a random wanderer/guest to find where to play compared as how it is right now.

We have a castlesiege world/event project that should be something like this. Will consist basically in raiding a castle to gain it's control. Should be a weekly event and the winners will obtain perks of access to some areas on the main server for a week (or until the next castle siege happens)

By merge I meant like add it as a separate world.

Yes, I understood that.

The only merge that could be possible, would have to be another server deciding to be hosted on our hardware, giving us 50% of their donations and be willing to accept our inputs, suggestions and staff members.

It's not really what most server owners are looking for. And our last partnership was ended because it resulted in more complications than ease. I was still doing most of the work on the server and I was being restricted on decision taking and server handling.

We have the potential already do to our own things. So like I said, we would need very good motives to engage in such partnership again. (The MCBall server is a good example of a working partnership... there needs to be something that we don't have or can't produce without "decent efforts/work")
I would play more if there wernt protections. It kind of makes the pvp server Just like minetown but with pvp on all the time. Ive played extensively on a different harcore pvp server where there were factions but no protections, land claims, chest locks. Being in a faction meant you could share warps and not hit each other accidentally. I kind of sucks that you cant raid and pillage at all when i see that as being the most fun part of a strictly pvp server. It forces you to figure out cool ways to hide your stuff and make secret bases and traps. Currently when i run around i see bases everywhere in the open but you cant do squat to it because of the protections.
