[Enjin Archive] Official Apple Inc. [Thread]

Well if you guys want to know my personal opinion of what so far I've seen. Some of the stuff you guys have stated aren't really accurate. 1st the MacBook Pro is better built then anything computer they have ever built. Apple is trying some knew things and the MacBook Pro with Retina is one of them. With iOS 6 this year is does have some nice improvement but they are mostly focusing on the new iPhone 5. I've read lots of info about that and it's going to be impressive as far as hardware goes. Yes the MacBook Pro was mostly built for media and that's why it's a powerhouse when it comes to that :d

During the death of Steve Job's the people at Apple leaked some information about the new Apple TV. They said that the Apple TV Job's was working on was a new revolutionary product from Apple. They stated that it would knock companies like RedBox and Netflix out of the water. It's not out yes btw.

iOS 6 is very nice I enjoy it and it's a lot of fun to use. Also Xcode the program we use to develop apps is ALOT of fun and has a lot of new features. I'm VERY excited to see the new hardware our apps are going to run on this fall.

WWDC however this year was really cool and VERY useful. I'm planning to go next year I'm SO excited :d

Sorry but I only use a MacBook because it has Logic Pro. If it was available for Windows I wouldn't have a macbook.

MacBooks are not powerhouses in the slightest.

I assume you are talking about the new model? This is all I have to say to you. Yes it's a great new model, but it's a step backwards like I said.

And please, as an Apple dev, don't talk about the "iPhone 5", until it's announced it doesn't exist, so it's not valued in this conversation.

At least the release of iOS 6 in the Fall pretty much confirms the iPhone 5 release date, and Passbook could possibly be a step towards NFC in the iPhone because I don't really see it taking off that much without NFC, however I'm not really sure it will be included in the next model :L I'm getting it whatever though! :d

Agreed, I'm extremely excited for Passbook.
Would I be right in saying that it will essentially be similar to the step from Vista to Windows 7?

Very similar in interface, mostly workflow updates and bugfixes.
I'm so sick of Apple manufacturing their products Foxconn factories, specially now that there has been a suicide and workers on strike due to the work condition. Apple has enough money to be US based and supply jobs to thousands of Americans right now if they just manufacture their products state side.

If there is anything I hated about Apple while working for them, it's that. I don't believe America shouldn't rely on China to manufacture 90% of their products.

I don't think i'll be attending WWDC next year, E3 really wore me out, at points I was thinking about sleeping during the conferences at WWDC.
While I welcome the cool new features in iOS 6, I also think that many of these "features" were put in for change's sake, while others were done with no practicality in mind. For example, why change the Phone's dial pad from a nice black color to a playful/toy-ish white color? Or the Camera app to have a black banner, as well as the redesigned stores, or the Music app, etc. People who say "If it's not broken, don't change it" should chime into these things. The thing about 3D... it's just impractical. I know for sure that I'm not going to be using 3D except for maybe when I'm bored and waiting in line or something. Street View on the other hand is a whole lot more practical as it actually helps in figuring out where a store is located or how it looks at a specific address. However, I will hold off on the new Maps until I see it in my hands/they are done with beta testing of it.

It is because of these problems that many see Apple as not really putting a whole lot of effort into this iOS. I mean, really, without the Maps update, this update is truly only worthy of an iOS 5.x title, even with "200 new features" (keeping in mind that some of these "features" are just slight changes/redesigns).

It is because of this that many, including me, are complaining about Apple's lack of innovation in the iOS. As for expecting... I found out about iOS 6 being released the day before WWDC, so apart from Maps I was not expecting any changes. Yet, I was disappointed by the general non-change in the iOS, with changes being mainly "enhancements" and cosmetic. While I welcomed these changes, I don't think they were worthy of the iOS 6 branding. Merely a 5.x. It is because Apple has decided to call it iOS 6 that Apple has created a problem for itself: and that is that it fails to live up to expectations of having OS wide features/changes with each successive x.0 update... a pattern that Apple created itself.

Now, let me first preemptively address one of the most common responses: the old "iOS 6 is iOS 6. What did you want for iOS 6? Some drastic new feature? etc, etc"

I have a rough idea of what I'd like in the OS, but I don't know those specific features should be implemented in the new iOS... because that's not my job. It's the job of software and hardware engineers at Apple to think of new innovations to include in their products. That's why we buy their products; to reward them for their innovation and work. So do I know what new groundbreaking innovative features I wanted in iOS 6? No. But I do know that there are hundreds of software/hardware engineers at Apple whose daily job from 9AM to 5PM (if not more) is to think and innovate and put in those new features. And I seriously find it hard to believe that in an entire year they were unable to come up with at least one feature that was OS-wide and made some fundamental change to the iOS.

Rant I posted a few weeks back when it was announced while writing up my opinions on VG announcements from E3.
You know, when I saw this thread, I was VERY excited about it. But so far all I've seen is nothing but complaints about how Apple sucks and that everything they build and design sucks. So I'm not very impressed by the Title of this thread. If your going to blast Apple then you should change the thread to match the subject. I've worked with Apple before and I enjoy it. I LOVE being a developer for Apple and wouldn't change it one bit. Just because you have worked at an Apple Store does not give you the rights to judge it's products and hardware. Until you've sat down and actually dealt with Apple Developers and seen the behind the scene hardcore work, and done it yourself, then I don't think you have any right to blast there work. Yes I too expected a bit more out of iOS 6 but I know that they will bring a great device for us to program on this fall. That's a pattern they have. Every other year they switch between iOS and Device. But you still are judging way to early, were still in beta and some of the stuff that you see now will probably not be in the official release.

To me Apple Succeeds over any computer company ESPECIALLY Windows. I used to be a HUGE Windows fan. Now with Windows and there OS I have been disappointed in. I thought Windows 7 was bad but wait till you see Windows 8, It's even worse.

I will admit that since Steve Job's left that Apple has fallen, but I still see no reason why we should blast them.

Hope you have a good day :d

joeydev

Wow, sorry I'm not a obsessive fanboy who has to think every single Apple product is a stepping stone for mankind. Seriously? I worked behind a Apple genius bar, I think I have every right to judge Apple products inside and out, hardware and software. Apple hasn't fallen one bit, by the end of the year it's going to make stock market history.

You have some nerve, specially for a guy who claims to work with "Apple devs" apparently.
