Version 1.1.3 has been released!
For those of you who don't know, League of Legends is an action Real-Time Strategy developed by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows. This is very much based on the Defence of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III, I'd recommend it.
Unfortunately, it is no longer available for OSX. Thus, the iLol project was launched by the 3rd Party team, Boompje. It has been pretty buggy until recently - however, a new update has been released to fix most of these in its Beta stage and once the final version is released, the client should be even more solid.
Here are some notes on the latest stable release:
- Fixed a bug where iLoL would not refresh the news and update status
- We can now block regions and show warning messages if and when a Riot update breaks iLoL
- Patcher no longer starts until you select a region (first launch only)
- Patcher now starts even if Riot's servers are unavailable or busy
- Patcher now shows how many downloads are waiting to finish
- An alert sound now plays when patching completes (no sound if no patch)
- Dramatically improved the speed of creating archives (up to 4x faster)
- Various optimizations and log message cleanup
Installation Instructions
Of course, almost all windows applications that run natively in OSX use Wine technology. If any of you have issues with Wine on your system, this may cause problems when installing - although this is highly unlikely. The Boompje client is very stable, considering the circumstances.

Installation Instructions
- Download the client from any of the official mirrors on the Boompje download page, which you can find HERE.
- Unpack the DMG (by opening it) and drag the iLoL Open Beta application into your Applications folder.
- Open the Application, begin the patching process. This can take up to three hours on an average connection, so be patient. bear in mind that the final part of the patching process says "Downloading Remaining Files" and is around 300MB, so this can also take a while.
- Once the Client has finished updating, you can go into Preferences. Leave the client option, only change your server to the appropriate location. (I would recommend signing up to the North American server, as that is where most people play)
- Open the client, login and begin playing League of Legends!
