I have this too. But, it isn't just affecting Europe, I live on the US East, and I get this error.

An UnknownHostException means the DNS name failed to resolve to an IP address for session.minecraft.net. (edit: either that or the site is just down.) Since it's not affecting everybody that probably means a nameserver died somewhere, or session.minecraft.net had a record change that hasn't propagated to everyone yet.
If you know how, you may be able to fix this by adding Google public DNS servers as alternate DNS servers in your IPv4 configuration. Google's DNS servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
