Id love to know if Minetown ever nearly fucked up behind the scenes, like if it was ever very close to closing

Back in early October 2010 I discovered and started to play Minecraft. At that moment I thought the game was old but in fact the SMP version just had released a week or two before. The game was still new, there was no top lists yet so it was hard to find a server. Most of them were listed on Minecraft forums, which I discovered later... but yea I ended up searching on google for "minecraft server", I then played for around a month on one of the first servers with a website then when I got banned from there for duping(lol), I found Minetown on google. Most servers were still at early stages at that point and I was looking for a community with a forum. Minetown came in the first results on google since it is hosted on Enjin. Meanwhile other websites didn't built the "google pagerank" to display on top of searches, Enjin was already indexed in google. And yea that's pretty much it. Fun fact: Minetown was the first Minecraft community on Enjin !

I don't really mind lol. It's not like if I wasn't used to it.

It was probably that morning when I woke up and discovered half of the server's cities had been deleted and turned into lava or craters by one of our ex-admins revolt. (and that all our backups were corrupted too)

And I was going on a ski trip that day so I was in my car on my cellphone trying to handle the drama.

...It was that bad because we weren't prepared for it. The same situation today would have a lot less impact and would be resolved much quickly.

Like everyone/everything, we had some thought moments but I don't think it ever got close to shutdown or to "hit the fan".

So... to continue with the story of how I joined it... I started playing here mid-november, became a donator. (It's also at that moment I choose the black chat color, since nobody had it). Then in the first week or the second one... I started making plugins suggestions to Cody (the founder). Then after 3-4 weeks of playing and getting to know people, I got promoted to Mod if I remember well. Then not so long after I became Admin. From there I reserved the black chat color <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>.

At that point Minetown was still hosted on a VPS and I was getting more and more involved into it. The community was also blowing up, we were probably the biggest server out there at the time. So we upgraded the VPS to the next level. But the price was expensive for what we had. It was possible to get a dedicated server for the same price, but Cody didn't had the knowledge to run a dedicated. So.. I convinced him to rent a dedicated server that I took care of setting up and from there... Cody made a girlfriend and became less active and more busy. I was filling the void until I kinda become in charge of everything. Then we discussed and he decided to give me the ownership of Minetown as we concluded it was the best decision for it. And after he became even less active... Yea.. that's it in overall... this happened over 3-4 months.

I don't really mind it lol... I usually sigh and half smile while looking at my screen when I come back from being AFK.

There are a bunch of things that I covet in life, but I guess founding my own internet company/corporation is something I have a lot of interest in.
