I have found a way to help combat the DDOS attacks.
1. check the router, which is supporting the server, and seal any extra open ports
2. Go through the network listings to see if there is anyone connecting who should not be, which basically means that if they are not a part of the authorized access network of players, you can find them pretty quickly.
3. Firewalls can be breached, obviously, therefore what you need to do is either update your firewalls protecting the server, and patch any holes, which the hacker has used to breach the system, or lay a detection trap, which immediately tells you when a firewall has been breached, and gives details as to the ISP protocols from who is sending the attacks to the firewall. After which, you can contact their ISP or, internet service provider, and not only have their internet cut off, but because it is a federal offense, you may have them arrested.
4. The router, which supports the server, may either need to be replaced, and or reset and upgraded. If replaced, a new protection system is easier to add. Remember not to leave any open access ports available, and to secure them all.
5. Server binary interactions can be read by translating programs, which tell you exactly what packets are being sent from, and received by the server, this allows you to trace any harmful packets affecting the server, and again, get the perpetrator arrested.
Whoever is doing this is committing a Federal Offense
There are several ways to Report a computer attack, depending on the type of attack . If you follow precautionary procedure you will reduce your risk of an attack and reduce the down when one happens. By following these procedures after a Dos attack you will also increase the chance of catching the attacker.
Record the time of the attack.
Record your own IP address at the time of attack.
Record the attackers IP address if possible.
Never fight back by attacking the attacker.
If you are using a dialin, disconnect and reconnect to your ISP.

Find out what domain the attacker's IP address is in.
Contact your internet service provider for help and have them advise you of your rights in this matter.
