With the release of Minecraft V1.2 close here are your instructions for backing up your client so you can update and try out the epic new features and well as still being able to roll-back your client and play on Minetown.

Note, once you load a single-player world with 1.2, you cannot load it with 1.1 as there are save format changes in 1.2, and it will automatically convert your save files to the new format when you open them.

- Click the start button
- In the search bar type " %appdata% " and then hit enter
- Create a new folder somewhere on your computer to store your backed up client
- Copy the " .Minecraft " folder to your backup location
- Open Minecraft and generate your V1.2 Client
Roll-back
- Click the start button
- In the search bar type " %appdata% " and then hit enter
- Open the folder with your backed-up client
- At this point decide if you want to back up your 1.2 client ( If yes then Follow the backup steps 3 and 4 ) If no continue on
- Delete your .Minecraft folder in the roaming folder folder ( The folder opened with %appdata% )
- Copy your backed-up client to the roaming folder

- Create a new folder somewhere on your computer to store your backed up client
