Hah, well at least shot down in an epic fashion =D but I have to say, I can't imagine ever needing to fire up more than 2 furnaces at a time, maybe thats just me :/

Haha, I fire up roughly 20-30 at a time. I don't smelt unless I have a full single chest or 2/3 of a double worth of supplies.
