[Enjin Archive] Very Minor Problem With MCTown
Started by [E] яєvєℓѕ21

When I first got MCTown in my town, a while ago now, and I tried to add people to my town, sometimes it would work and other times it would say "An Internal Error Occurred". Over time I realised that this happened when the user you are trying to add is not online. I then let DanniDorrito know about it and left it there. However recently a few of my friends have has the same thing haPpen to them and didn't know what it meant, so could there be some way for the dev team to change it to "Player not Found" or something like that? Thanks.

This is a suggestion within a report so it is still in the right thread!
there are a few quirks to minetown.

with regards to the 'internal error', that can mean 1 of 2 things :

1. Your not spelling that persons name case sensitive. if their name is RetYo, you can't always type retyo. Use caps when applicable.

2. Although I can't explain why, your town needs to be refounded. I had this issue a few weeks back. This only mainly happens with the older towns.

I realise you are referring to adding people with /to invite <player>, rather than adding them to a plot, but the above still applies.

REMEBER TO CHECK A FEW TIMEs, just in case.
I have had the same prob

I have a fix for this

It means the player is offline and you cannot add the. To a town using mctown commands mwhile they are offline, so,

To add a player who is offline...

Use sting to find the main territory name

E.g.

Savage_terit_main

That is my towns perm name

Then for this you would do

/region addmember savage_terit_main (player name)

That works when I do it

If it doesn't try again is still it refuses to help then re-read this. And make sure you are doing everything right
Ye, thanks for the tips guys, although I already knew that it meant that the person wasn't online/ their name was spelt incorrectly, I was saying that they should change it so that instead of saying "An Internal Error Occured" it says "Player Not Found" (like herochat) or something like that, just so that it doesn't confuse people. Also, with regards to Braney's comment, that did happen to me and I did get my town reset a few weeks ago, but that is not the cause for this message, or it wasn't for me. When I got my town reset it was because I got kicked out of the town and, for some reason, when you try use the command /town active set <town name> it returns the message "Insufficient Permission", so I had to get my town remade so I could rejoin the town. If you try to add people or use MCTown commands when not in a town it will say "Your active town is not set".
I didn't read through all the posts completly (give me a break, I just got off work :banghead: ) but it is advised that you use MCTowns ONLY for making the plots. To avoid error messages, you should do /region addowner <plot region name> <player name>. And the only reason you should ever use /town active set <town name> is if you are either a mod making a town. You should only need to use /town active reset

Thanks for clearing up what /town active set was for tho!
