[Enjin Archive] Have a new town? Here's some tips!

I've seen a lot of people struggle to keep their towns on top. I've decided to make a list of things to let your town rise to the top:

1. Make your spawn appealing to the player. A simple sign resting on a piece of cobble isn't the best way to attract people to your town. I'm not saying to build a house out of diamonds, but having a way to make players feel welcome always helps.

2. Don't have your market/house lots overpriced. If your prices aren't reasonable, it can turn players away from your town. Make your prices agree with the size of your lots and it will be easier to negotiate a deal.

3: Have some events at your town. Hosting some kind of game can provide a fun pastime for the server and will keep them coming back for future events!

4: Don't be afraid to advertise. Don't go overboard here, every major town started off as a small region. Stating occasionally in the chat, "Come to my town, we have lots available, etc." is how you draw attention to the city you're are trying to create.

5: Respond to those looking for lots. There will always be someone searching for a market stand or a house lot. If it is stated in the chat box, respond to them with a simple "hey, I have a lot!". This increases the base population of your town, just remember to keep your prices in check.

6: Create a place in your town that stands out among the rest. Having a successful store or casino, etc. really helps your town's rep. Some players can recommend this part of your town to others who have questions. Others might want to live in the same town to stay relatively close to this location, or because they know this is the "place to be".

7: Make your town appealing to the player: Having nothing but cobble/wooden plank houses won't make your town the best it can be. While this is probably the best way to start off a newly found town, eventually you will want to use some creative designs that stand out among the rest.

8: Be friendly: Getting into arguments with other players will turn them away from you and your town. Be friendly, help with problems, report griefings. These will keep your townsfolk from leaving because they know you can be relied upon.

9: Don't have a confusing layout: The easiest way to have your lots is in a grid-like fashion. Being too spread out will confuse players who are new to your town. Plus it is easier to manage this way! Having signs pointing out where things in your town are located doesn't hurt either!

10: Don't be disruptive of other towns: If you are too close to another town, and you know it, don't wait too long before you talk to its owner. If you want to keep your town you will want to negotiate someway that you can both stay on your land, without causing problems. Getting mods involved when they don't need to be is a bad thing!

These are all the tips I have! Have fun and good luck!

Nowadays, whenever I see someone making a helpful thread, I automatically think "Trying for helper" and it annoys me. Lately the forums have been spammed with guides when we have a perfectly functioning wiki.

Sorry if I've got you wrong, but that's just how I see it.
Helper isn't a title handed out lightly, but what you say is valid. Too many members do list guides or do minor help expecting to earn big points towards becoming helper. It's not easy finding out what members might not meet the age requirement, but still have proven themselves that they can handle the responsibilities.
I Found it to be quite helpful.
Nice tips!
