I'm having this terrible problem with all of my animals despawning, and I believe some other people are to. It has happened to both my chickens and my snow golems, both of which are NOT from spawners. I am mostly concerned about my chickens because this has happened three times, and I had put so much money into getting the eggs for them. This is the area they are in (underground at /warp Bakery):



It is well-lit and I don't see a reason for this to happen. Does the chunk really need to be loaded at all times for my chickens to stay? Thanks for all help that is given.
