Finally, an update as important as the nether. ITS ABOUT FUCKING TIME
Some people said most people may have to reset their maps, Because of all the new updates....Adventure mode NPC villages stuff like that...But..if the server were to go to new number codes in the map it might be the same number codes the new update goes to...(I didnt say this) this is just what I heard...

Well as it may seem that the NPC villages would "destroy" the current map, they will only spawn in new chunks, which means anything existing shouldn't be affected, rather just the chunks that haven't loaded yet (which is quite a lot currently, and we have a 8000 radius border). In addition if the map height is changed to 512 or whatever, there will (hopefully) be a converter that will add in the empty space and convert the chunks the new height format.

From sky to bedrock = 128 I believe.
