[Enjin Archive] Poll for agharta lag potential solutions. Let your voice be heard in this poll!
Started by [E] dteandy

Who else is tired of lag in Agharta, to the point that a mine cart, riding a horse or pet is slower than walking? Please let admin know here. Participate in the poll and comment!

In other servers, there are plugins that erase ground items. We've been told before that this doesn't cause lag, but In fact the server has to save all of those items every 30 minutes or so; why not just have them go away from the map? Other servers I've been to that use this have no lag at all on any of their servers. I'm invested here, and plan to stay and spend more. Give it a test run and see how it goes. Like I said other servers use this, and there is almost 0 lag there, and frankly, the only reason I know of any other server is because of this server's down time. Many servers also utilize afk plugins that kick players off after not moving for 15 mins, etc. There are plugins that can help the lag. lets utilize them and not just our money.

We used a beta of item frame protection, and it fixed problems, lets try item deletion every 30 minutes to attempt to get rid of some of the lag. Items I break days ago, hours ago, still show up when i walk back by. As a survival server items should really despawn at some point. On xbox you have 5 minutes to get your stuff or its gone, and there is no lag while playing in a party.

Users reading this, please comment to encourage a fix.

We all understand the thing with the provider, but on the servers hands is plugins that can assist in making less things to change every save, in turn should cut down on memory required to save the world.

Thanks for reading, and sorry admin for the rant, but something must be done.
i cant say for specifics that cause lag, but there is a considerable amount of lag on this server. It is a shame. I would appreciate any measure that could decrease it.
Oh look, another one of these.
Servers that use the item clearing plugins and are "lag free", are lag free for reasons not related to item clearing. I *have* worked with servers using these types of plugins. They do not help and they often make things worse on servers because they are ignoring the real problems (low server resources, unsolved low TPS, poorly written plugins, route latency, etc).

Further, if a chunk is unloaded, the server stops caring about what entities are there and will complain if a plugin tries to alter that chunk without loading it. Loading a chunk takes more resources than just taking the server's lead in ignoring it for this purpose. The reason you come back to items on the ground after leaving an area, is because the server stopped counting those items when the chunk unloaded.

I'm open to suggestions on plugins that actually will benefit members, but ground clearing plugins are not of that category. I will not have that garbage added to the servers and have people be inconvenienced by it just to prove how much harm they can cause.
If the items on the ground are not the issue and getting rid of them will not fix the lag. Then what will. I think that it is clear that there are many players that are fed up with the lag. Minetown is a great community of players and we all want to stay. But the lag has to go. I am not a computer wiz but I do know that playing with this lag is not fun.
I like how people are acting like staff either don't realize there's lag or that they're intentionally ignoring it. Have you guys stopped to consider that maybe it's not caused by something that's under they're control to be able to fix? The comments some people make about this sound like they're trying to stand up to some evil oppressor who is purposely making everyone's experience on the server miserable.
I have to agree on the fact that the lag is herrendous at times making almost everyone leave for a while until the lag subsides. I am no computer wiz either, but there has to be a solution to atleast ease the lag, if anything.
sorry for double post, not sure how to delete it?
Staff have been discussing the issues with the servers having varying levels of lag. I don't want to be a jerk chasing you all around about what is or is not causing the lag (or any other issues that come up), just unfortunately it cannot be poofed away as easily as adding a plugin. As much as I might wish for it to be that way. :) Perhaps removing a large number of plugins (including ones you love) might gain some ground, but I think you'd prefer us be a little more conservative about taking away enjoyed/desired features.

What does help though, is when there is a problem, for members to give us detailed information about what they were experiencing and what was going on at the same time. I understand feeling frustrated, but we can't fix things based on emotions alone. If we can find a pattern based on member reports, then we can look closer into where the pattern starts.
maybe you guys should downgrade another server or you should maybe consider looking for another server hoster unless you host it on your own you guys do have 16 gb of ram i think but the server needs a better cpu theres too much block lag
