I have a ipod touch 2nd gen 8 gig today the screen smashed after 4 years rip screan but it still works. I have 3 choices keep using it till its fully broken, 2 buy 4th gen now, or 3 buy 4th gen when 5th gen is out so 4th gen is cheaper.

There is the third option. Buy a new second generation digitizer(that's what the touchscreens are) off ebay for 20 bucks and fix it yourself -_-.
