ive put the address in prperly and its not working is it because im using mineshafter? if u dont know what it is just look it up on google

i have been register for a month or two but i still cannot get own the server when i click join it loads and says logging in and then quits and says failed to verify username so can someone plz help my username is obviously umadbrooo13.
