The speed isn't that bad, but what really kills me is the fact that Minecraft.net is blocked, among other websites I visit. I wish there was a way to bypass school filters in order to access Minecraft multiplayer at school.

Yeah... i don't know much about the technical messages of Minecraft, but you're not the only one complaining about the server at the moment. Why don't you join the main thread ( http://www.minetown.net/forum/page/1/m/672632/viewthread/1268171-server-down-again ) and stay tunned, someone will post there when the server gets back on =)
