Yeah, I stopped playing on the server myself not long after cross server chat came out. The spam from skyblock is completely intolerable and pretty much drove me off.

Universe chat needs to be enabled. By this I mean, all servers chat are all connected to the IRC chat. But, each server has their own default chat channel i.e: /ch server for that server.

Universe channel would be the channel that is cross server, you can leave, and join it at any time you please.
