[Enjin Archive] Redstone Lamps/Daylight Sensor
Started by [E] ialwayswin01

Hey Guys, thought we could exchange all the glowstone lamps to a simple redstone contraption including the daylight sensor, which would cause the lamps to only be on at night. (More Energyefficient <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f609.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=";-)">;-)</object> ) Would of course be a lot of work, maybe i could team up with a bunch of guys and at least exchange all the lamps in the spawn area. Dont know if that would cause a big lag when it turns night time, i just thought that this would be nice.

P.S: Im new on the server, but i got an awesome impression of it.

P.P.S: Im from switzerland <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f609.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=";-)">;-)</object> found u guys when actually voting for another server

Hi, and welcome to the server! <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f600.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":d">:d</object>

It's a really cool idea, but spawn already really laggy without it, wouldn't redstone devices cause more?
Thats what i thought, i dunno. Maye les admins can estimate that...
I'll answer it this way.

RS signals will only work if in a loaded chunk. Same applies to the light sensor. Estimate the time each day the sensor turns on and off. Each individual lamp that is being effected. Number of RS repeaters required to extend the signal. That would mean that at a set specific time in the server. There would be hundreds of ticks being dedicated to turning the lights on and then off. That would mean yes there would be lag. But said lag is only limited to again how many chunks are actually being rendered at the spawn city.

If no one is at spawn at the time of the night shift for the lights. Not saying the lag would be incredibly immense. oh no no nooo the lag would be next to minimal. thats why it would just be wiser to simply use Wireless RS IC's to carry signals around spawn. Less use of repeaters and less RS being lit up. So this is actually possible but would it be worth the time to implement?
Neil has this all around TownFarm and it seems to work well... I dont see why not... Other than its not needed and would take a lot of work.
