[Enjin Archive] Laptop suggestion
Started by [E] SilverLotus1

I'd also recommend getting a desktop over a laptop for gaming any day. They just aren't a worthwhile investment in comparison. That being said, its your parents' money and if they'd rather spend it on a laptop, don't have them throw it away on an Alienware. You can get an Asus that is just as good, if not better, for the same amount or less. All you're buying when you get an Alienware is a name and tacky looking molded plastic and bunch of gaudy LED's slapped all over it. In my experience, Asus is usually the way to go when it comes to laptops.
I agree that asus is the way to go when it comes to laptops, and in the recent years alienware laptops have just become more for style than for actual performance. But i recently picked up an alienware gaming desktop and it is great. Its much better than the laptops and it runs all the games great. So i would highly suggest getting a desktop over a laptop, its much better and will be worth your while.
I love my Asus N56V, I've had no problems with it and it holds up really well with all of my games.

Eh... they don't make those anymore.

Maybe a Macbook Pro 15 inch.

He said he needs a laptop.
Don't ever...EVER...suggest a mac for a gaming computer. They aren't made for it and they're terrible at it, and you can get an extremely superior computer for the same or less money.
In a mac, you'd be getting an Intel HD 4000 integrated gpu, which isn't bad but it isn't great either. If you're just playing Minecraft or League of Legends, that's perfect. If you want to be playing games like Crysis 2 or Borderlands 2 or Max Payne or whatever, you're going to need a mobile gpu. I'd suggest custom building a laptop. You can get a GeForce GTX 560M for about 300 USD, and the rest of the laptop you can probably go for around 600-700 more USD. So basically, for the same price of that mac you'd have a system that is about 4 times more competent.

I dare you to find a solid aluminum computer with the exact same specs as a Macbook Pro for less money.

And they aren't terrible for gaming. My Macbook with INTEGRATED GRAPHICS runs Minecraft, TF2, Portal 2, Garry's Mod, and League of Legends just fine.

The Macbook Pro 15 inch has a 650m, which is actually better than a 560m.
