This update will not be a minor bug update but a full update ( 1.4.4 to 1.4.5 vs 1.4 to 1.5 ) so it will not be compatible.

Minetown will not be updating to the new release until Bukkit and plugins have updated so i would recommend not updating until we update or if you do want to update making a backup of your client so you can still play on the server.

An easy way to keep both the updated version and a 1.4.5 version is to use a client such as SK's Minecraft Launcher, This will allow you to have multiple installs of minecraft on your computer.

Steps for multiple installs using SK's Launcher

With those 20 easy steps you should be able to play the new update and still play on minetown, Good luck and post in this thread if you need any help with the launcher. If someone knows how to set a launcher like this for apple please post here as well.

just an FYI - this update is actually 1.4.6. I believe 1.5 will be the "Redstone Update"

My bad it will 1.4.6 but with the amount of changes it will still not be compatible with 1.4.5
