[Enjin Archive] chemistry/biochemistry
Started by [E] ColdUnforgiving

Hey guys, got any good chemistry or biochemistry stuff? I am particularly interested in chemical reactions involving fire, but anything will do. Please make it diy using household items.
Ahh yes. I am the master at this. The chemical 'fire' plus anything will make bigger fire! <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f600.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":d">:d</object>

Hope this was helpful!! <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object>
Unlocked, apologies for that. Not sure why it was locked x

Ok, firstly, fire =/= chemical...

Fire is the result of a chemical reaction, called combustion. At a certain point in the combustion reaction, called the ignition point, flames are produced. Flames consist primarily of carbon dioxide, water vapor, oxygen and nitrogen.

Secondly. Fire + the correct fire extinguisher =/= bigger fire T.T

To address OP, here as SOME things you could do at home, with fire.

1. Look for a sheet of newspaper that has a LOT of colour on it (pictures etc). Throw this page on the fire - the fire will change colour as the paper burns! Looks pretty.

2. Throw regular table salt (lots of) into fire. This (should) make it burn with a brighter, yellow flame.

3. You also may have some 'epsom salt' around the house. This makes fire burn bright white.

4. Get some magnesium. This can be obtained in some bodybuilding stores pretty easily, sometimes with many words following the 'magnesium'

Burn the magnesium. Suggest you stand back or have dark goggles on you, this is pretty bright.

These are just a few examples I'm aware of, I'm more Physics than Chemistry, but I hope these helped and TRY and be safe <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>

Have fun ^-^

That's Not Me If You Wondering...
Warning do not do indoors lol.

Coffee creamer and a lighter = huge fireball <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>

Carefully pour out a small amount of non-dairy coffee creamer into the air. Light the creamer and hope you still have your eyebrows.
Lol thx guys! Will try these... i was thinking of stuff more on the chemical side... like making pure elements, making elemential versions of something, pyrotechnics, and contact flash stuff... stuff that goes boom and still has stuff for me to keep for memory sake/using to make more boom <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f61b.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":p">:p</object> ex. Sodium, magnesium, lithium, potassium, nitric acid, nitrogen, stuff that will keep me amazed... nurdrage style (not talking about attack, im talking about the youtube channel). Plz include ingredients and where to get them. Plz try to make the explosions involved not super damaging (no bombs).
