[Enjin Archive] Computer Building Assistance
Started by [E] Osmosis

Ok so this is the first time I've made a custom PC where I haven't had ALL the components ready to build straight away (I don't have the processor, GPU, optical drive and HDD yet but I have the case, mobo and PSU.)

I have the mobo, case fans etc. and everything else all hooked up. That is, without the components I do not yet have.

When I power on the computer (just to check case fan connections), the PSU starts for about two seconds then stops. It then pauses for 5 seconds or so and powers on again for another 2. This continues as long as the machine is on.

I'm hoping this isn't a power supply issue but rather some form of automatic restart because not all components are there?
My dad built my computer from scratch, I'd ask him <object class="emojione" data="https://resources.enjin.com/1489581540/themes/core/images/emojione/svg/1f642.svg?0" type="image/svg+xml" standby=":)">:)</object>
Hmm you can ask him if you like but this is a pretty specific issue. I want to know before my processor comes, if it's the power supply not working OR the fact that it will only continue to keep restarting without a CPU.
EDIT: Perhaps its failing the pre-post test?
its prob failing POST because of the missing processor.
What psu do you have?
That's what I was hoping, jjd.

It's a brand new 850W XFX modular PSU, I doubt it's faulty.
Ye, I would agree with jjd712, it's probably restarting because it fails the pre-post and it will keep trying!
Hope so! Bump for anymore ideas?
Um GTX 670 or 680
